Faye, I use the extra lean ground beef or chicken breasts for the meat and
baked doritos for the crunch. The meat is 2pt per ounce. A 1/4 lowfat or
fatfree cheese is 1pt.. and I use fatfree western salad dressing. If you
prefer a more traditional dressing use ff sour cream and taco seasoning
added. Or lowfat marzetti slaw dressing,ff sour cream, and taco seasoning.
Big bowl of greens and crumble the chips..measure your meat and dressing and
there ya go! I love it!!!
Hugs, Deb

There is also a turkey taco salad recipe in the weight watchers magazine that I got at the book store, also have it at Target. It's called weight watchers 20 minute recipes and has 57 entrees with a points value of 6 points or less. This salad looks really good. I'm making it tomorrow

Might help, but might not but have you taken a look at the book First Things First by Stephen Covey? An old book you can find used for pennies - an outgrowth of his Seven Habits ideas and the point of corectly prioritizing issues.
You might think it not a help with weight loss issues - but his approach, while useful in business, fits ideally with the WW approach to life. Have you ever sat down to think about what you want to be remembered for? What do you want people to say about you? What do you want people to admire or to comment on?
Initially, business books focused on making task lists - I recall my first book was "how to get control of your time and your life" by Laikin. It was revolutionary in it's time - imagine an idea of maknig a list each day and checknig things off when you finsihed them!
Now pretty normal in today's life. And the second generation was the task organizers - I got my first organizer in the 80's - I recall getting one for my WW stuff - anyone remember the gray binder where you put everything? The organizer is to put all addresses, your task list, a project organizer, a calendar - they made them for the home for co-ordinating kid's places to be, for the computer to remind you what you need to do.
But we might find ourselves involved in the joy of organizing - guilty of that! It feels so good to cross something off the list, to check off one more step in a project. To write down your food choice for the meal. But the only way we meet goals - like loosing weight - is to understand that we often lose sight of what we want in the interest of doing something urgent - something that needs to be done right then.
So maybe you look at different goals in life - to retire at 62, to buy a vacation home in the Hamptons, to raise intelligent children to share with others, to bring a sparkle to your spouse's eye. What are things you find exhiliarating? What do you want to accomplish? To lose weight?
And we can divide tasks or projects into important and urgent items (fixing a broken air conditioner or heater), important but not urgent items (getting an inspection sticker for the car), urgent but not important items (honestly a lot of those, from returning phone calls to replying to a text message to typing a message in here), and of course not important and not urgent.
In life, the tendency is to do urgent things at the expense of important things - so we find ourselves on the computer reading message (or typing them) instead of fixing a nutritious points friendly breakfast. We want to supervise a child loading the dishwasher instead of taking a twenty minute run. We want to watch a TV program on that minute instead of planning meals for tomorrow or packing a WW friendly lunch.
Sound familiar?
> I have a home-based business, dangerous, as the way I
> procrastinate starting a job is to go find something to eat.
Ha, sounds familiar! It can be a problem with a home-based business - one of the things a co-worker had to do when he started working from home was to define a marker "I'm now at work" and keep to it rigidly, or his life was overrun with his kids, his wife, getting up for a break, and lingering over the game on TV.
The book not only has to look at what you want to be remembered for - your reason that drives your choices - but also whether what you do supports those goals. So let's say my goal is to get married but all I ever do is refuse dates and look for solitary occupations. Or I say I want to make a million dollars but find myself at the mall buying earrings and stuffed animals and plastic forks. Or I want to loose weight but just never find the time to plan a meal, buy points friendly food and stock the kitchen, never write things down, find it too hard to measure things.
So look now at your tasks and see if you are spending time on things that are important to you - and yeah, there are people who say they want to lose weight because they think it will change their life - the husband will become incredibly supportive, the kids ace all their tests and volunteer at homeless shelters (and love us!), and we magically find the secret answer to eating sparingly and looking attractive into our 80's with no effort!
Because sometimes we just don't know how to do all those things on our own and it's easier to focus on a problem everyone else has - weight. So you procrastinate on a job because you get involved in it - can't take a break when it gets intense? You procrastinate because it's not absorbing - it used to be - and you really wish your husband was a wealthy lawyer or doctor and you didn't have to work? Eating something is calming - the very act of eating can reduce stress hormones and stop the circling in our heads for just a while.
So one of the basic skills of task making many years ago was to make a time-sheet - every hour, on the hour, we had a bell go off and we wrote down what we were doing at that minute. Answering a co-worker's question, talking to planning about a project, trying to find a office layout, calling up the field, actively working on something for that home-based business, in the kitchen snacking, checking the weather cahnnel instead of doing anything. Do the tasks you do support your weight loss goals? Or do you choose "urgent" things instead of important things?
Because weight loss isn't easy and it's not immediate so it gets shoed out of our list of things to do i the next 5 minutes - confess, there is something you could do in the next 5 minutes to support weight loss. And you find yourself doing a lot of "urgent" things - like cleaning the bathroom or sweeping te porch - instead of tasks that support the important but not urgent weight loss.
> So I did join the gym and recently started some of the

One thing that is helpful to me - but might not be for you - is to stop thinking of things as tasks - go to gym, go to class at gym, meeting on Tuesday ... And think of them more as steps in what I want to be - healthy and able to leap tall buildings. As important things - not urgent things - but important things to further my ultimate goals.
> I use the points plan, which worked for me in the past -
> but I'm considering changing to core. I'd be interested

Changing plans may well be the magic bullet your looking for - it also might not. You've done an important step in the important but not urgent list of things - researching what has worked for others. Gaining more knowledge about how WW works - is Core for you? But interruptions are classified as urgent but not important - are you putting off a points friendly eating plan while you "research"? Are you putting off eating sensible meals and planned snacks while you eat those last things in the cupboard that you shouldn't?
Let us know what you decide about Core - there are a few corbies here - it's not as popular as flex, but it may well be the Boot Camp you need.

Hi Barbara,
I'm familar with Covey and was an avid fan many years when in the corporate world. Do tend to do task lists etc and do find if I am diligent about tracking I do well. Prioritizing is done - if I think about it. One of the joys of a home based business is deciding on your schedule - dual edged sword there. I think I'm going to speak with the WW Leader about core and see what she says. It may be that if I start cooking more interesting meals for myself I can turn this around. (soup or cereal for dinner isn't really all that satisfying....)
Later,
Kathryn A.

I'm doing the same thing. I track in the morning and afternoon, skip it by evening. Go to the gym just to say I went. Have tried different approaches and don't have the focus I need. Been thinking alot about this - now it's time to move on it. I'm hoping to be very active with this list and it may provide enough motivation by posting out to get me my rhythem(sp) - I hope.

5. Weight Watchers Weigh in--Week 7
Posted by: "Jennifer Brown" mazdalady9@yahoo.com mazdalady9
Date: Wed May 27, 2009 10:20 am ((PDT))
Well I wasn't hoping for much this week. I got off track Sunday and Monday, but I was ok with that cause it was a holiday and I knew I would pick it back up Tuesday. I didn't hit goal. My friend Amy didn't either. We were going to go shopping and do dinner tomorrow to celebrate but we are pushing it to next Thursday. By then we should both hit our goal, She has been a great friend through all of this and Im lucky I have had her. So I lost .2 today. I honestly thought I gained or stayed the same. Im only .4 away from hitting goal, so its doable. I have my nephew this Saturday hopefully so I may only have a couple beers Friday night. The drinking really held me back this week. I wont drink or eat bad with my nephew. Going on 19 weeks with no gain. Yahoooooooo. I got a few compliments this weekend. One was "Holy crap, how much weight have you lost, you look great" Another one said I looked great. Then my dad said I've lost too much weight and look too
skinny(I didn't like that one). So my goal this week is to lose .4. Its doable.
Starting Weight--161.0
Current Weight--141.4
Total Loss--19.6 pounds
Goal Weight--141
Goal Before June 12th--Lose 7 pounds. (1.6 lbs away).
WOO HOO. Wish me luck!
Have a Passionette Day!!!

5 mile treadmill run and 45 minutes of strength training. It's also my birthday today, so happy birthday to me!
Robin K.
P.S. Also, I know I haven't posted more than just my workouts lately, but I want you all to know that I think you are all wonderful people and I wish you the best in your WW journeys. Welcome to all the new people and congrats to all who have been losing. To those who are struggling, please don't ever give up. You will accomplish great things if you just keep on trying. Nothing worthwhile ever comes easy.

7a. I'm officially back--reintroduction

Hi everyone! I'm Michelle. I'm not new to this listserv or to WW, but there are so many new members since I was last an active member here, I figured I'd reintroduce myself.
I lost 55 pounds with WW in 2007 - 2008 and then had to quit when I became pregnant. I had all the intentions of only gaining a minimal amount of weight with the pregnancy, but I fell off the wagon when morning sickness set in and lasted the whole pregnancy. I didn't throw up often (when I did, it didn't stop and landed me in the hospital twice) but since I was nauseous all the time, the only thing that seemed to help was several mini-meals per day, which I translated as constant "eating for two." This resulted in a gain of 60 pounds according to my doctor's scale. I have lost 30 of it quickly (9 of it was my daughter, Katie, though) and plateaued.
I offically joined WW again today and I'm looking forward to the momemtum program. My meeting site is a test site for new materials and it seems similar to some of the material we tested out, so hopefully I'll adjust quickly to the newer parts of the program and be on my way. At my WI today, I was 244, which is about 36 from the WI just before I found out about the pregnancy.
For those of you who may have returned to WW after a haitus, do you know if I'll get a new 10% keychain and weights? I still have my old ones, but I noticed in my membership booklet that they put a 5% and 10% goal in there, so I wondered about it. Do I have to give my old ones back? J/K!

I don't know how long ago that was or how old you are now, but I can tell you, I don't lose as quickly as I did when I was younger. I'm over 50 and I know my metabolism is slowing every year. Exercise is absolutely essential for me now.

Hi Tonya,
It's a cross-stitch board and someone asked the same exact question you did
just the day before yesterday. I was just wondering if it was a small
world!

I'm Jan in Texas USA and I'm losing slowly but fairly steady. Isn't it terrific we can support each other at such a distance?

10a. points help please
Posted by: "scrapinterri" scrapinterri@yahoo.com scrapinterri

My friend and I went to our meeting tonight and it was a good week for both of us. We hadn't had dinner and went to Islands. We both had 2 yaki tacos and a side salad. When I checked DWLZ for points it came up 22 but without the fiber. I check Islands nutricion info and it doesn't include the fiber either. Does anyone know what the point value is and do you think 22 is correct? It was on a whole wheat tortilla, tomatoes, pineapple, chicken, slight bit of cheese and the teriyaki sauce. How would you count it?
Lesson learned now to know the points before ordering.
Thanks for your help.
Terri

Hi Deb,
Thanks for the ideas on the meals. I'm not big on cooking but don't mind doing it - if I was just a bit better at it. I tend to be a 'bland' cook. I don't care for the premade freezer bought meals so it really limits me. I love chili so that's one I can do. I should do some marinated chicken too - love chicken and can easily add it to salad. Any specific marinades that are WW friendly?
Thank so much.
