Hi Ramoth:

I've found exercise helps me lose and maintain. Since I started to racewalk 1 mile on a treadmill almost daily (5 to 6 days a week) in the last month, I have lost about 7 pounds and am apparently going to continue to lose. My appetite is also suppressed. I'm talking about going from 153 to 146 (I'm 5' 7"). I think I'll stop around 140. But I had not been exercising for several months, and my weight just 'sat' there prior to starting up exercising again.

I still can't eat a whole bunch, which is the only thing that helps me. I also dump if I eat too many carbs or sugar, so that's a Godsend for me. I know that it was after the 2 years mark I started having to "use" my surgery as a tool. It was a lot more effortless before. Since I didn't have surgery on my brain, I still want all the junk that I did before, its just I pay for it if I eat it, or I gain weight and have to re-adjust what I eat. I went vegetarian almost a year ago and its a little harder for me to get the protein I need since its all carb related but I figure I'll get the hang of it eventually. Even when you're an old timer like me, the surgery can still help.

Wow, there's not many of us around. I had open RNY with removal of my gal bladder too in 2001. Things are much easier now for sure!

I had an open rny with gallbladder removed so I was in the hospital a week and another couple of weeks recovering. Of course, the size you are, is a determining factor too. You should ask your doctor what he recommends, he would be the one with your excuse if you can't go back in a week. Good luck and remember to take advantage of the "honeymoon" period which is about the first 18 months. It's your best friend.

My symptoms....loss of satiety (never felt full); and I went in several times to fill the band but it made no difference.? My doctor finally sent me in to be scoped, and that's when they discovered the erosion.
