Today was a very good weigh in with a 3.5 loss (was up last week by 2 and
the week before as well), I'm going to be doing a happy dance AND take a new
class at the gym today. I don't think it is 'age appropriate' and will
proabably kick my a** but I'm going to try Body Attack. Yikes - just the
name scares me. I'm past the 50 mark so things get broken easily....still
feel my shoulder muscles from trying to do push-ups - won't do that again,
life is too short to break body parts.

I was wondering about that today. I have gained 2 and 1/4 pounds, but all
of my clothes are really getting too big. I am going to have to get a size
smaller in pants. I do work out sometimes. Most of the time I like to walk.
I saw this exercise video of hip hop abs on tv. I think I would have a lot
of fun with that. I think that is what I need, something fun, instead of
something boring.

I was reading in one of my WW books today that when you are burning fat
and building muscle that a small loss usually means you're losing the
inches, Your body is actually smaller even though the loss is not as high a
number. Your body is much healthier. I'd much rather a smaller body than a
lower weight.

Congrats!!!!!

9. Running question for Tory
Posted by: "Kelley Perrigin" tinychilover@gmail.com kperrigin
Date: Tue Jun 2, 2009 7:46 pm ((PDT))

I will try to keep this short and sweat. I started running May 5th and did
5 minutes. This past Saturday I did 42 straight. I have a personal trainer
and we run once a week but I try to do one or two other sessions a week.
Monday nights I have 2 hours of karate and the other nights (Tuesday, Wed
(unitl this week as new summer schedule came out) Thursday I have classes at
the fitness center. Functional Power Sculpt for an hour Tuesday night has
been cycling on Wed, SSS (strength, spin, stretch on Thursday). If my
trainer teaches Monday mornings I take a one hour Cycle Circuit. Weekends
are usually reserved for my runs. We do our personal training after 1 of
the other classes.

Last Thursday night we worked on pace. I was doing a 15 minute mile and
then I did one in 12:33 when we worked on the pace. We are running 2 - 2.5
each time. Tonight I sucked big time. Did class and she had marked off a 1
mile course in the neighborhood around the gym. That one mile took me
18:35. My calves burned the whole time and they haven't in several weeks.
I was 40 ounces behind on water at the point we ran. I usually would have
120 by then and I only had 80. Mississippi is hot and humid!

My trainer asked if my food was okay for the day and it was. I did run on
the lean of the road and when she saw me doing that told me to go to the
middle since no traffic. I had done a half mile by that time. That used to
cause her shin splints quite often. She has always been a runner and her
pace is quite faster than me so she always runs a little ahead.

My knee was kinda tight also before and afterwards. When we were walking
afterwards she noticed me favoring my right leg. That is the one that had
ACL reconstruction in 2004 but it has never caused me any problems.

I am going to try the course again on Friday evening.

Needless to say I am ready to kick myself and am so so mad at myself! Any
suggestions or insights since running is such a big part of your life. We
are working towards a 5K in November.

Thanks!
Kelley
