Yesterday when I got paid, to reward myself for having a weight loss 5 weigh
ins in a row, I got myself a new outfit at Wal-Mart. I normally wear a size
18W. I was able to get an XL pants and blouse this time! And they fit
perfectly! In fact the pants are even slightly loose in the waist!

I am excited to be out of the plus sizes!

Great news.  Don't you love the fact that the waist is a little loose.  Keep up the good work.

How encouraging to you that you've been able to inspire people around you with your success. And how gratifying that you're a leader in the effort.

Please, please, don't get caught up in their efforts - they may be entirely eager and serious, but their struggles aren't yours so save your focus for yourself. You cn't help them if you start to lose your own way.

> My sister is a single mom with 2 kids and doesn't have a
> lot of money.
And it is encouraging that my weeks on program also coincide with my cheapest weeks at the grocery. You don't say what age the kids are - it's never to early to teach kids that all food doesn't come in a box or out of a carton.

But also realize that this may be difficult for your sister since she'll be focusing on her work, her job, her responsibilities as a parent, and finally her weight. It mgiht motivate her to get lower food bills - but it also takes more time to plan meals and cook them. So if your sister is pressed for time, it's easy to fall back on standard meals that may not be points friendly.

> My mom takes care of the kids when she is at work so is
> tired by the time my sister comes to get them.
And you mother would have a different struggle of her own - would she be fixing the kids meals? I highly recommend buying a book on Amazon on ebay called Trim Kids - while dealing with children and teens, it focuses on weekly progress in teaching the basics of nutrition just like WW does - including portions and a weekly tracker. Of course a side benefit of maknig nutritious meals for kids is learning how to watch your own intake.

> So they really dont have time to attend meetings or the
> money to pay.
If it's just that an hour can be found but the schedule isn't right, that's one thing. It's another if they can't find any time at all to carve out to plan meals and make a shopping list.

WW is the most deeply researched nutritional plan I'm aware of. There have been changes to the program over the years, all designed to make it easier to succeed or change to current health findings. So I don't think there's much substitution for the program as it is.

I'm not sure you can find the weekly booklets on ebay but you can try - the food companions, points finder, and dining out guides a readily available.

A reasonable substitution would be to pick up a well balanced diet book which focuses on changing habits - there are way too many on the market that are a bit daunting, require too many changes all at once, require some pretty bizarre foods, or preach some personal opinions that aren't backed by research.

Some of the best I can recommend are the Biggest Loser Jump Start - it lists a 1400 calorie a day meal plan with minimal meal preparation that also includes exercises. Real short on theory and background but literally if you can't follow the meal plan for 30 days to make a change in your eating habits, you probably will have problems with most programs. The author also wrote a book called Positively Ageless that goes into nutrition concepts a bit more - also with that 28 day promise of weight loss.

A calorie guide like Netzler's Food Guide is invaluable.

On the theory side, there is the Solution by MEllin, a fairly old book that works through many of the psychological issues of weight - and the newer behavioral modification approach (like Mellin's) of Beck Diet Solution.

There are fitness and diet jounals available that mirror trackers - I happen to like the one by Peterson but Suzanne Schlossberg has a great one that combines more exercise.

If you google "free weight watchers point application" or "free weight watchers point calculator" you can find some freeware apps that calculate points on your computer. Since I am at my PC all day, I find it easier to use one of these apps than the slider. Might be an option for your mother and sister!

Weighed in last night. I am down 3.4 lbs for a total of 27.4 lbs! Only
2.6 lbs to go till I hit my 10%!
My friends and myself have lost almost 60 lbs between the three of us. One
of my friends hit her 10% last night.

And as usual, rewarded ourselves. This time with an hour aquasize class!

Now I am off to figure out a workout schedule that I can follow so I don't
get bored! LOL

Diane

I DID IT

I lost 1.4 this week making my total loss 21 pounds. I made goal weight. My
friend Amy and I have been doing all of this together. I was nervous all
morning and we were emailing each other to keep our heads up. She weighed in
first and made goal--I was smiling but of course was very scared at this
point. I stepped on the scale and BOOM. I made it too. I had tears coming
out and Amy gave me a huge hug. I am so flipping proud of myself. I knew I
could do it, and I did. I got a call last night from a DM of weight watchers
asking if I was still interested in working for weight watchers and becoming
a leader. Perfect timing:-) I thought this was a good sign. I begin that
training at the end of august. Amy and I are going out tonight to buy a new
outfit and have dinner. I need to maintain now for the next 6 weeks. After 6
weeks if I am 2 pounds above or below my goal weight then I become lifetime.
I get to add 4 points back in:-) Im excited about that. I can eat more--LOL.
Thanks everyone for your support. I am so very happy.

Starting Weight--161
Current Weight--140
Total Loss--21 pounds
Goal Weight--141

Goal Before June 12th--Lose 7 pounds. (0.2 lbs away). :-))))

Have a Passionette Day!!!
