Faye~
It happens to me! Years ago, my friend and I worked out together, in my
living room. Just out of curiosity, we decided to weigh ourselves before the
work-out and then again afterward. We couldn't wait to see what 40 minutes
of step aerobics could do. We BOTH GAINED over FIVE POUNDS!! I kid you not.
FIVE POUNDS! Geez, did we suck in 5 pounds worth of oxygen?? It doesn't
seem possible. Of course it's temporary. But still.
I never do anything before WIs....except last week, I wanted to take the
dog for a 25 minute 'power' walk early in the morning. Not brilliant. I had
my worst WI ever!! Never again. I don't care what the reasons are or how
temporary it is. It affects me terribly and I almost started crying right
there in the meeting. My home scale, which is VERY accurate, showed me down 2
pounds that morning. Oh well.
So yeah, you're not alone. Next week, we'll have great WIs!!

2.1. File - List Rules
Posted by: "Serious-Weight-Watchers@yahoogroups.com" Serious-Weight-Watchers@yahoogroups.com
Date: Sun Jun 14, 2009 5:48 am ((PDT))

List Rules

1) NO discussion about sugar substitutes. This is one of the hottest topics and people are extremely opinionated. If you're concerned about sugar substitutes, hit Google. Don't discuss it here. You may share recipes with sugar substitutes and you may ask which bakes the best, etc., but NO discussion about health aspects. Do your own research and come to your own conclusions.

2) NO discussion of how Weight Watchers works. Can't come here and have us teach you the program. Most of the members here are paying members and Weight Watchers has a copyright on their information. They have a great program and deserve their financial compensation. So we won't tell you how the program works. Join up and get the materials for yourself!

3) NO solicitation for money. Period. Ever.

4) Be nice. Play nice. Share, share, share!

5) If you think you're still on moderated status, chances are you probably are. Email me privately at Serious-Weight-Watchers-owner@yahoogroups.com and put MODERATION in the subject line. Then ask to be taken off moderation. This is one busy group with over 5000 members, and taking people off moderated status is often times put on the back burner. Only make this request if you've been a member of the group for a month and have posted a few times.

6) If you want to discuss OT stuff, join the group set up by Kerry and Sherri. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/SWW-OTdiscussion/

7) Don't write a post to the group announcing you're leaving because you're upset about X, Y or Z at the group. People who do this are trying to stir things up. The funny thing is, as moderators, we know when people unsub. Those that try to stir the pot and announce they're leaving never do! They send a post, trying to cause problems, then stay and watch. When you see this behavior here or at other groups, know you're dealing with trolls or people with no class.

8) If you have a problem with the group, email the moderators. Don't post it to the group. Serious-Weight-Watchers-owner@yahoogroups.com

Thanks,
Lyn

I've always done the meetings for two years now. With the kids being out of school I can't do my regular Friday morning meetings and I'm not too sure about the Sat. one. I like the leader but she's just a little too bouncy for 8:00 on a Saturday morning LOL. So I was considering swithching to online only I'm just not really sure if that's really what I ought to do or just suck it up over the summer and then go back to my regular meeting days. I normally love the meetings so that's my real dilemma.

thanks for your input,
Kilianna

Hi Kilianna,

All I can say is that I maintained my 30-pound loss since September
doing WW online and now that I have returned to meetings I am back on
the losing track.

I do subscribe to eTools now as I do feel that is a good tool to have
in addition to the meetings. I love the online tracker, yet I still
use the paper tracker (despite the fact that I have a Blackberry with
the eTools also on it!).

I personally think the meetings are the way to go and my meeting is 23
miles away and now I won't miss a week and am so happy!

Good luck to you.

Hi Kilianna,

I have to agree with Barb, the meetings make all the difference. Even
today, just going to the meeting made me feel so much better, I lost 0.6
pounds but felt encouragement and picked up a lot of tips from fellow
members.

For me its meetings and E-tools all the way. I have lost 44.6 pounds so far
and am sure I can do it with the support I have.

Good luck!

I understand about the meetings and the leader.  When I first began approximately 4 years ago, I drove 45 minutes because the leader was so inspiring and motivating.  She left WW's altogether to go back to a full time job.  I bounced from meeting to meeting trying to find one near me that I fit in with only to basically stop going altogether except hit and miss every few months.  I have never stopped paying the monthly fee, but, have gained all but 10 pounds of 53 back.  I now have began going to meetings again and driving 1 hour and 10 minutes because I MUST be accountable.

The meetings and the opportunity to hear and also share keep me motivated.  I love hearing different ideas and get excited with other people's success and know that I, too, can do the same.

I have done WW both ways and the meetings are just not for me. I have
successfully lost over 100 lbs. doing WW completely at home/online. So it
can and does work.
But like I said I am not a meeting type gal.

That is such an inspiring story.  I have been on WW's group for a long while now, just never saying anything, just reading.  I'm so inspired by others stories, I just can't seem to stay focused for the 100+++++ time.  Now, with several health challenges, I MUST do this, it might be a little harder since excercise wise - I now have challenges in doing some of them.

But, what you said in your email below hit me like a ton of bricks and is so true.  Thanks so much for sharing and I do want to stay connected to this group as I do believe for a lot of years WW's is the BEST and most simple program to follow and not feel so restricted in everyday life.  WE MUST CHANGE SOMETHING TO GET DIFFERENT RESULTS!!

Thanks again for sharing,

IT's POSSIBLE

Giving up what we used to do for what we should have done all along isn't the easiest thing to do but it is possible.
As long as we keep reminding ourselves that it is indeed possible, it helps us to stay in focus to enjoy success.
I try to compare it with other things which are not easy, yet possible.
I gave birth to 4 children, not easy, but possible.
I went back to finish school at the age of 35, not easy, but possible.
I survived after divorce and again after the death of another husband, not easy, but possible.
I support myself and my household alone only on my one income, not easy, but possible.
I have read and re-read all of the information which Weight Watchers gives me. There is nothing in there that says "IT's EASY", but there is a lot of, "IT's POSSIBLE".
I joined Weight Watchers September 16 2008, and so fat, in nine months I have lost 123 LBS. I keep a photo log on my website. See URL below.

8. The Daily Plate
Posted by: "Faye Ridpath" ispgypsy@gmail.com fayefromtampa
Date: Sun Jun 14, 2009 9:08 pm ((PDT))

Have any of you used The Daily Plate website? This site is awesome! My dad
is from Iran, so we ate a lot of Iranian foods when I was growing up. So
sometimes when I am feeling homesick (my dad, brother, and his wife all live
in IN and I live in FL) I go to a really good Iranian restaurant we have
here but I haven't eaten there since being on WW cuz I didn't know where to
find the points for anything there. So I googled what I ususally eat there
(I said nutrition information for kubideh) and it pulled up some sites so I
went to the Daily Plate and it was there! I couldn't believe it! I looked it
up cuz Marcella asked if we could go there tomorrow cuz she likes their
chicken. But if anyone sees anything they think might be a better option?
Here is the website:
http://www.moraescafe.com

And it gives the menu so maybe someone else can tell me something else and
suggest what they think the points are for it? Marcella is really down
because she is major daddy's girl so upset he's going to be gone so I want
to take her there to cheer her up. Then we might go (I have to look and see
how our money is doing) to this place where you paint your own pottery. It's
called You do the Dishes. She loves it. But if we do, I'll just let her do
something. It would be pricy if I do, too.

So while I'm talking about points for foods when eating out. Hubby is going
out of town for 3 days (he left tonight) so we went out tonight to IHOP.
They have one part of the menu that has NI for some items. But it only had
the calories and fat and some other things but no fiber. So I figure I may
have overestimated. I plugged in the info it showed and came up with 11
points for my dinner. But that was without the fiber. I had balsamic glazed
chicken with mushrooms and steamed broccoli.
