Are there some group classes in something more gentle than spinning?  Yoga, an abs class, stability ball?  Those would be people oriented.

It sucks to have a problem that sidlelines you from your favorite activities.  I've had bursitis in my hip for the past couple of years.  The cortizone didn't help so I stopped pursuing help from the doctors.  My biggest gripe is that most fitness centers around walking or running.  Every magazine covers says walk off the weight.  Well, *#@!, if I COULD walk, then I wouldn't have 30 pounds to walk off.  On the positive side, this will cause you to think outside the box.  You may discover some activity you enjoy doing.  I'm sad you don't have a pool at your gym.  That would be the most ideal thing ever.  You might find a buddy with a pool at home & organize a water aerobics or water jogging class.  There have to be other folks who would welcome water exercise.
Go to the bookstore or library and find a book on floor exercises.  I don't recall her name, but the nice lady who started out at 413 pounds has a site and on it are some little video clips of exercises that I really like.  Hopefully, your problem will be cleared up soon.  But it could be that your body is telling you that 7 spinning sessions per week is too much repetitive motion for your body.  Cycling hard for an hour plus a day is how I messed up my hip.  Which is such a huge joke in the universe.  I am the LAST person you would think would exercise, much less have injuries.  I'm the classic bookworm, picked last in gym class, two left feet person.  So it's hugely funny that now that I WANT to exercise, I'm limited.  God has a sense of humor.  Good luck with it & let us know how it all goes.  amy

Bummer but no. Spinning is definitely out. There's too much pressure on the foot and sorry to say our gym does not have a pool. But thanks for the suggestions. Off to my 2nd training session..... I just might have to book one every week. Boy,  will I be broke - but fit.

Kathryn A. ~ The Whiner

Sorry about your foot Kathryn. Can you do a group class in the pool? What about spinning? Just a thought. You might end up finding something you never knew you liked!

Another thought. Does you public tv have the probram that has sit and fit.  Years ago I was working for ww and they tried an exercise class for people who did exercise for women who could do exercises other than the ones that they did in chairs.

Carol - thanks for the suggestion. I never thought of that and my cable has a large selection of exercise programs. What a great idea.
I'm going to check it out.

6. MY day
Posted by: "Judy" SharingJesus@comporium.net judinsc
Date: Fri Jun 19, 2009 12:27 am ((PDT))

Hello everyone, I have had a very busy day, I did 40 minutes of exercises,
and 45 minutes of exercise games, so I have been pushing it, I don't do it
all at one time, but like in 10 and 15 minute sessions. It still takes off
the pounds and keeps me moving instead of sitting in front of the computer
most of the day. I had cereal for breakfast, a delicious chicken sandwich
for lunch on flat bread. Yummy. I had cheese and yogurt for snacks. Drank 2
leaders of water. So I am doing great. I feel like I have concurred the
beast that has been tormenting me for months about this weight problem. I
still have enough points for spaghetti for supper and a salad, with ice
cream for dessert.
I feel very victorious. I hope ya'll don't get tired of hearing me talk
about my diet, I am just so happy that it is finally working for me.
Thanks for the encouragement.

8. Jen's Weigh In (6.19.09)
Posted by: "Jen" jenstk06@yahoo.com jenstk06
Date: Fri Jun 19, 2009 7:30 am ((PDT))

So, clearly, just walking 45 minutes a day with the kids is not enough. Lately it's been more of a tool to just get them out of the house, rather than an intense workout for me. When Tyler was in school and I only had the 2 kids in the stroller, I could control the pace, but now that he is walking with me (or riding his bike), I'm doing his pace.

I ordered Turbo Jam and I'm really excited to start using it. I have used Power 90 in the past from the same company and really enjoyed it, but the DVD's are in storage somewhere, and I really want to try something new, Turbo Jam looks awesome!

My plan this week is to get a better handle on my foods and drink more water and I'll be posting my journals as well, just to keep myself accountable.

Last Week: 184
This Week: 185.5
Difference: +1.5

10. Hi..been sick
Posted by: "Tammy" tammy362@verizon.net tami_v1
Date: Fri Jun 19, 2009 10:10 am ((PDT))

Hi Ladies,
I have been very sick. I have a wheat intollerance, possibly an allergy to it. I do not know how I got an allergy from it, but I have been seeing my family doctor and also I am going to see a food allergist. The doctor said it can arise at any time. It does not favor age, or lifestyle.

I have been having stomach problems for a while now and honestly I just got used to having the stomach aches and trips to the bathroom. No one ever had an answer for it. I had been to a gastro dr and he never helped one bit. So I got really sick this past two weeks and went to see an Natural healing practioner and found that I am having reactions to wheat and soy foods. I hope that the allergist has some helpful information cause I am really confused about what I can and can not eat. I have been reading a lot onilne about what to avoid. There is just not much to choose from that is wheat free. I have heard about rice flour and rice pasta's. However a lot of these items can only be purchased at health food shoppes and they are very expensive. I bought the sprouted grain bread it is really good, but it is 5.00 a loaf. So it can get pricey.

I have been able to stick with my diet and have not gained anything. But I am feeling pretty bad. What is so bad about all of this is I work at Subway... However, I guess I can still take my own bread and make my own sandwiches or salad. It is just the "not wanting" to give up what I like. But if it will make me feel better, then it is worth it.

Hope everyone is doing well. Congrat's to those who have had losses and keep at it for those who have not. I am going at a snails pace.

Tammy
