Leslie,
I don't know about in Canada, but here in Delaware, our Y offers
financial assistance if you're out of work. I'm temporarily out of
work due to being a teacher and not finding a new job for next fall yet
and I plan to apply(it's $78/month/family here). My husband CAN pay
it, but if it'd be $45/month we'd be alot more comfortable till I get
another job. Check with your Y to see if they offer something
similar(it's called "Open Doors" here).

Ok...this may be a new one. My husband and I have been going for walks in the evenings which is great. The problem? GEESE! We get about 1.5miles and we get to this pond where there is this one goose that literally sees us and gets in this position... backside in the air and beek straight out front...and it runs at us like it is going to attack! It freaks me out. I usually just walk as fast as I can to get passed where they are. Then, we get to our turn around point and it happens again on the way back. UGH. Any suggestions? I do go on other walks in different directions but this one is my husbands favorite.
Hope everyone has a great week...we have my youngest sons 6th birthday party tomorrow!

Maybe take a squirt bottle filled with water(although they like water)
and squirt it? Or take a can of pennies and shake it really loud??
I'd be nervous too!

I live on a farm in Montana and I can't stand Geese. The worse they can do is pinch you with their beaks but they can become terriible aggressive. I won't have them on my farm. good luck I have the same fear but with barking snarling dogs LOL
