I just checked the forecast and there are supposed to be thunderstroms tomorrow morning! I hope they don't have to cancel or postpone the race. It would be such a bummer to train so hard and not be able to do it because of lightning!

I'm so excited! My first triathlon is this Sunday. I've been nervous and excited all week. I never would have dreamed I could do something like this before I started WW 2 years ago. I'm just sorry I waited until I was 41 to try!

Any advice from anyone who has done a triatlon before is greatly appreciated! I've been training, practicing and studying for weeks, but I know there will be something I missed!

2. Update on Eating/Also 1 thing Slightly OT for Some
Posted by: "Faye Ridpath" ispgypsy@gmail.com fayefromtampa
Date: Sat Jun 27, 2009 9:43 am ((PDT))

I wanted to thank everyone for the encouragement yesterday! I read
everything, I just couldn't respond individually cuz I was at work and we
were so busy!

Anyway I am happy to report I am right back on track today. Yay me!

For breakfast, I ate a Yoplait Lite Pineapple Upside Down Cake yogurt and a
piece of string cheese. For lunch I ate a Philly Steak Lean Pocket and some
apples and grapes. For snacks for work, to combat the goodies (cuz I am sure
there is still stuff left there was a lot there!) I am bringing: 100 calorie
Cheetos, a 100 calorie Kudos Granola Bar, and for my sweet craving (cuz I'm
on my period too and always seem to crave sweets when on it) I am bring some
of my daughter's Cocoa Puffs in a ziploc bag, no milk just eating it like a
regular snack and it is only 2 points that way. I don't know about dinner
yet. Dinner is always up in the air cuz if hubby isn't too sleepy he waits
up for me and has dinner. Sometimes, he makes dinner but goes to bed but
leaves it in the fridge for me. But if neither happens, then I have one of
my frozen dinners. But no matter which it is it should be good.

Hopefully between yesterday's mess up and being on my period this week I
won't have *too* bad a weigh in.

And I don't want to gross anyone out but I wonder if anyone else has had
this experience? My last two periods, I have been saturating a pad almost
right after I put it on and the blood is a very bright red. A couple of
times it has even looked like a clot. But I don't think I've ever had a clot
so can't say for sure but it was really thick drops in the toilet.

I want to say to all of you thank you for the encouragement when I need it,
the way to gos when I do good, the suppoert when I gain, and laughing with
me when I share jokes and stuff. I love all you guys. You guys are the bomb!

My speech coach is on Facebook and we have been talking on there and he
shared some pics of my mom with me. I was happy to see them cuz I don't have
many of her, she's dead now. I have one on my profile page in Facebook. If
anyone has it and hasn't friended me yet I am Faye Mohandespour Ridpath
there.

Ok sorry for the book. I'm feeling much better today. Probably cuz we're
taking a mini road trip tomorrow. Bob's sister keeps saying we should get
together sometime. We live in Tampa and they live in Titusville which is 150
miles away so it's hard to do with our hours. But Sundays Bob never has runs
(well sometimes but it's very very rare) and I have a rare Sunday off so I
asked Mary (his sister) if we could come tomorrow and she said yes. So first
we're stopping at the bagel shop that Bob's niece and her husband own and
Mary and Sam (Mary's husband) will also be there helping and then I don't
know what we're spending the day together but not sure if we're just hanging
out either at Chris and Terry's house (the niece and her husband) or Sam and
Mary's or if we're going to go out to lunch or what but no matter what it
should make a nice day.

Ok again sorry for the book. lol

My high school speech team coach found me on Facebook. My mom came to all
the meets. He dug up some pics of her which I was happy to see since she is
dead now and I don't have many of her. So this is my mom and me when I was
in high school. The guy in the background is Buck. He was the bus driver
that took us to all our speech meets.

Yeah, I have to try to find something to fill me up. I have been trying to
stay within my points, but sometimes it is hard as the bread I am allowed to
have (sprouted grain) is more in calories than regular bread. So I am having
to try to work through this. I guess it will take more time to just adjust
to it.
I am drinking more water and adding lemon to it. I went to the doctor the
other day and they found out that I have high levels of creatinine in my
blood. They are running tests. I may have kidney disease. That also has been
weighing heavily on my mind. I am only 38, I mean I can not believe I am
having these kind of health issues at my age. I will know the results by
Tuesday or Wednesday and I also go see an allergist about the food allergies
on July 10th.
I hope I see a better loss next week on Thursday.

Monica,

Keep up the good work! Exercising is so hard and you seem to like doing it!

As for being hungry, protein keeps you fuller longer.

Also if you are the main grocery shopper in your home, start making little changes to the things the family eats, buy lower fat etc snacks and make little changes in their main meals that they really won't notice. This may make it easier for you.

Also, sit down and talk with your husband. Tell him how important this is to you. It will not only make you look better, but it'll will make you feel better and be much healthier and can prolong your life! Maybe if he hears that side of it he may understand the importance of this to you.

Monica, great job so far! Have you been weighing yourself every day? You may want to stick to once a week for a while. You will see big fluctuations from day to day and within the day, but overall, the trend should be down from week to week. Some people get discouraged weighing themselves too much.

Can you find some healthy snacks to take to work? Something high in protein usually keeps me satisfied for a long time. I have stuff in my desk that I can snack on if I get hungry, like Fiber 1 bars and 94% fat free popcorn. I also eat my lunch througout the day instead of all at once.

Maybe you can try to make some substitutions at home that your family won't notice, so it's easier for you. Get whole grain pastas, low fat cheeses, leaner cuts of meat. Keep your fruit bowl stocked. If you start incorporating different recipes little by little maybe they won't even realize they are eating healthier. I cut up veggies and make a veggie tray to keep in the fridge and my kids eat them like candy. It's a big treat to have everything all prepared for them like that.

My advice on exercise is to mix it up and try to get some high intensity exercise in, like spinning or jogging. That really burns calories fast.

Keep up the good work, you are doing great!

Hi everyone,
I'm new here and fairly new to WW "again." I am down 7.6 pounds in 3
weeks, and I'm feeling better already. I have a question about
protein. Do you have any recommendations of foods that are high in
protein that are not "just" protein, i.e., things like bars, snacks,
items that don't need refrigerated. I'm trying to make sure I have
protein in all my mini-meals, and with the heat here in the desert, it's
a bit of a challenge.

Thanks in advance,
Cheryl

Hi
Don't know if I sent this. I am a bit forgetful. Well it is Stage 4
brain cancer. total of 12 lesions-- 9 on left side 3 on right. Largest 1.4
cm. Will see the radiologist Monday morning to make a plan of attack. Could
be as short as 3 months or as long as a year if there are no tumors in the
body cavity. If there are then they will also do chemo. At least now
dieting is not a worry--

Keep the prayers coming.

Ginny,

I am so very very sorry. I went through Cancer with my little guy. He's 12 now and doing good but it blinded him. He had a rare form of Retinoblatoma -(Infant eye cancer.)

Now my goal is to get a bestseller written so I can donate proceeds to fight this ugly diesease. My son went through Chemo and it didn't do him any good but the radiation is so tumor specific anymore that is what killed it dead in its tracks. His was very advanced so I truely believe in radiation.

My prayers are with you.

You are so right---weight loss is such a small thing compared to a battle with cancer

Kelley! Good for you for searching for a new doctor. One who really knows what "you" are talking about! No one knows our own bodies better than ourselves and if the doctor says there is nothing wrong when in fact you know there is, time to change!

I bet you are so thrilled and are already feeling better!

We get about 1.5miles and we get to this pond where there is this one goose that literally sees us and gets in this position... backside in the air and beek straight out front...and it runs at us like it is going to attack! It freaks me out. I usually just walk as fast as I can to get passed where they are. Then, we get to our turn around point and it happens again on the way back. UGH. Any suggestions? I do go on other walks in different directions but this one is my husbands favorite.

I see folks walking with golf clubs.  It's a thought.  We have Canadian geese in our neighborhood also.  They're so mean.  They do come at you hissing.  I like to feed the ducks, but I hate the geese.  Two or three couples had babies, like 12 or 14 in each family.  Now all the babies are almost grown, so the flock size has quadrupled.  Take a dog along who enjoys chasing them back.   amy

> Ok...this may be a new one. My husband and I have been going for walks in the evenings which is great. The problem? GEESE!
