I'm so sorry about your job Leslie! Keep taking care of yourself. When you feel good about yourself, it will show through to prospective employers as you search for a new job. Hopefully something will come through between now and 9/17. It's good that you have some time to figure things out. Think of this as a new path on your journey. A quote from my secret sister that I love says, "Life is not about finding yourself, it's about creating yourself." This is your chance to create something great!

I really feel for everyone who has lost their job recently. I work for General Motors and I feel thankful every day that I still have a job!

I'm so excited! My first triathlon is this Sunday. I've been nervous and excited all week. I never would have dreamed I could do something like this before I started WW 2 years ago. I'm just sorry I waited until I was 41 to try!

Any advice from anyone who has done a triatlon before is greatly appreciated! I've been training, practicing and studying for weeks, but I know there will be something I missed!

I don't have any advice as I've never done a triathlon before.
I wish you great luck!
I am very interested in hearing about your training and your
experience though.
I am wondering if it is something I would like to train for and do in
the future.

I don't post often but I do read the posts. Leslie.. I am somewhat in the same boat with the job situation. However... I have not lost all the weight that you have and I still have to pound the pavement. Thank God you lost the weight before you had to put on a suit and look decent.

5. Jen's Weigh In (June 26, 2009)
Posted by: "Jen" jenstk06@yahoo.com jenstk06
Date: Fri Jun 26, 2009 8:10 am ((PDT))

I debated posting this, but after I had my sweat session this morning and took some time to reflect and read some things in my email; I knew I had to own up. I had a gain (again) this week, this time, I KNOW exactly what happened and it came in the form of not enough water, a 1/4 pounder, large fries, a trip to Taco Bell and some Snicker's Ice Cream bars oh and some pizza early on in the week.

I can't and won't keep doing this to myself. I need the daily exercise, I need to track everything, drink lots of water and stay away from crap that will just send me over the edge. I'm not an "eat everything in moderation" kind of girl, if I have pizza for dinner, I can't stop at 1 or 2, I eat until I feel as if I might burst. I know this will change in time, but for now, I HAVE to discipline myself otherwise I'm going to keep going up and up and up.

At the start of my Turbo Jam DVD it flashes the words: DECIDE COMMIT SUCCEED. This is my new motto. I have decided, I'm now committed and I will succeed.

I have an eating plan and exercise plan in place for this next week. I won't bore you all with it here LOL! But I'll post my exercise plan on my blog and I'll be posting my food journals there too.

Last Week: 185.5
Today: 188.5
Difference: +3

Morning
Well had the PET scan tomorrow so today is the big day for the verdict if I
have brain cancer or what. Pretty scary but am hoping it is just fat
deposits or cysts. I feel worse since I have been to the hospital and they
gave me all these meds. They make me have a headache. LOL

One good point. I am losing weight. Not sure why but in the last 7 days
I have lost 6 pounds. Think it is lack of appetite due to stress.
Hopefully this will all blow over to stress and some minor deposits on the brain.

Thanks for all your support and will keep you posted as to how I am doing.

Happy losing

7.1. New to the group

Hi everyone-
I have just been on the WW program for less than 2 weeks, and I am just struggling with being hungry during the day at work and having a hard time eating healthy when my family eats things I shouldn't around me. I had a hard time breaking the habit of soft drinks, having caffine headaches, but finally got thru that. YEAH!!!
I seem to go up and down on my weight and I'm not sure why, I'll lose a couple of lbs and then gain one. I have been trying to get in exercise every day, doing tapes, walking or riding my exercise bike.
Does anyone know what is the best exercise to burn calories quickly?
I weight about 158 and would like to get down to 140 or 135.
Just looking for some encourment, it seems like its harder since my husband doesn't really care if I lose weigh, so he wants me to eat the same way he does.

Hope everyone is having a blessed day!
Monica

Monica, great job so far! Have you been weighing yourself every day? You may want to stick to once a week for a while. You will see big fluctuations from day to day and within the day, but overall, the trend should be down from week to week. Some people get discouraged weighing themselves too much.

Can you find some healthy snacks to take to work? Something high in protein usually keeps me satisfied for a long time. I have stuff in my desk that I can snack on if I get hungry, like Fiber 1 bars and 94% fat free popcorn. I also eat my lunch througout the day instead of all at once.

Maybe you can try to make some substitutions at home that your family won't notice, so it's easier for you. Get whole grain pastas, low fat cheeses, leaner cuts of meat. Keep your fruit bowl stocked. If you start incorporating different recipes little by little maybe they won't even realize they are eating healthier. I cut up veggies and make a veggie tray to keep in the fridge and my kids eat them like candy. It's a big treat to have everything all prepared for them like that.

My advice on exercise is to mix it up and try to get some high intensity exercise in, like spinning or jogging. That really burns calories fast.

Keep up the good work, you are doing great!

I went to the gym today.
Once I leave Sears I will have to find an inexpensive gym membership. Our Y is $40 a month.
25 minutes on the upright bike
25+ minutes on the treadmill
16 minutes on the elliptical
11 minutes on the recumbant bike
I ran out of time today. I spent some time with a couple of coworkers while they were on lunch to discuss the Sears issues.
Tomorrow we are off to Thamesford in Ontario to Weinerfest with our dachshund. Its four hours to Thamesford from Trenton.
She is entered in the dachshund races, hotdog bobbing and costume class.
I am taking a salad and a small bowl of pineapple and strawberries (MMMMMM).

Oh Ginny! How scary! You sound like you're taking it well, of course I know
that can change from minute to minute.
Keep up the good spirits and optimistic attitude. Those are the two
strongest cancer fighters you can have.

Will keep you in my prayers and will run a mile for you tomorrow on my

Congratulations on your engagement! How wonderful!
Now...as to the vacation. Since our group is "Serious Weight Watchers" what
is your plan for your honeymoon so you don't come back 3 pounds heavier?
It's one thing to maintain on a vacation, but to go off plan? If you have
truly made a lifestyle change, you don't take a vacation from a lifestyle.

So what can you take from this situation and apply to the next one so you
can take your vacation from your LIFE but not from your LIFESTYLE?

(And if this sounds harsh, it is not meant to be, but part of the tenets of
our group is that we do not celebrate going off program. We face it, own it,
and learn from it.)

Its not harsh, but I know what I did. Yes it is a lifestyle change, but we are also human. What I did was a choice. And one that I am still suffering from. Good thing is I know to get back on track and not give up. and it could have been a lot worse. 2.8 pounds is nothing compared to some people that come back from a cruise or vaca gaining 5-10. If I exercised a little more it would have been less.

I will have to check out the core plan, Cindy.

Thanks for the information about it.

13a. Weigh in today

Well, I gained one lb this week.
Yesterday after hearing the bad news I had turkey, dressing, potato and gravy for lunch.
For dinner I went to Mickey Ds and had a happy meal (I wanted the toy! LOL!)
On the way to my sisters I had an A & W mama burger. Six cookies when I came home and a bag of popcorn.
I am back on track today. I am not going to let this job situation bring me down. I have worked so hard to lose 50 lbs.
I would like to thank everyone for their support.

14. Bad Eating Day :-(
Posted by: "Faye Ridpath" ispgypsy@gmail.com fayefromtampa
Date: Fri Jun 26, 2009 4:25 pm ((PDT))

I did *so* bad today! I am always so so good! Here's what happened...

I work at an answering service. And well there are a few parts to what led
up to my bad eating... First, things are changing at my job because the main
gal after my boss (owner and manager) just got fired because she took an
ex-employee's SS number and used it to open a credit card account and get
Verizon Fios at her house. So things are different now. Next, my boss
e-mailed me that she wants to talk to me about how I handled a couple of
calls from the same caller (she e-mailed me the recordings of the calls) so
I've been stressing worrying what she'll say to me... So first she wanted to
talk to me yesterday but she told me just to come in early today instead. So
today we had a meeting (not her and me we the whole office) because we also
have been in this thing called The Atsi Award of Exellence. This is like the
secret shopper program that stores do only they call and pretend to be
callers and rate the answering services based on certain criteria. It is a
nationwide contest. Anyway, we are one of the winners so our boss had us all
come up and pose with her one on one with the plaque we got for winning.
Plus she gave everyone flowers (except we have one guy here so he said he's
going to give his to his girlfriend and say "I was thinking about you today"
lol) and we all got $25 in cash as a bonus for helping win the award. And...
I guess cuz of all that going on, I get another reprieve cuz my boss still
didn't talk to me about those calls. So I was on a high from all that. Well,
she bought in Dunkin Donut Munchkins, cookies, a cake, and a meat and cheese
tray... And I sampled *all* of it! So I am so dreading my weigh in on
Wednesday and I know I can get a no weigh in pass but I'd rather stay
accountable so I'll weigh in anyway but I am really dreading it cuz I know I
want way over my points with that food! I am always so good here. The one
guy that works here is always offering me some of his food he's always
bringing in fast food and pizza and stuff like that and I *always* say no
(even when it's pizza which I love) but today I just couldn't resist! :-( I
haven't eaten like that in so long and I am so close to my first 5% goal
too! :-(

Liz,

I'm so sorry I missed your birthday. I am behind on e-mails again. I have
been getting some really bad headaches so have to lay down a lot lately.

Happy Belated Birthday!

Thank you for the encouragement, Heidi!

Things have been better and hubby and I are laughing and joking.

Sunday I am off so we are going to Titusville, which is a 150 mile trip, to
see Bob's sister and her husband and also probably their daughter and
son-in-law because they (the daughter and son-in-law) run a bagel shop so
we'll probably stop there first.

Marcella and I had a great time doing the mani/pedi (her) and I did a facial
wax because I have been getting terrible facial hair. Also waxed my
eyebrows.
