OK, Vic, if you want it that way, if thats the way that you want it, then
please forewarn people before they begin to post that their every word is
going to be publically archived on Google. Please be responsible and warn
people monthly so that the new ones coming in will know before posting that the
archives are open for public viewing on the web.

As for me, I really liked this group a lot and the people that I got to
know, but I am not posting anymore. I am starting a closed WLS support group
that will be much bigger than anything I have handled before. It will be
private and have a password to join on.
I wished that I knew, Vic. I have many people that I would have rather have
NOT had read about my surgery. I was hoping that this was not a bad joke. I
am deeply hurt and there is nothing that I can do to undo it. How awful, I
will not be doing this to my members. Everything will be up front and fair,
peaceful as can be expected. The people here are great people, I love you
all. Please visit me and let me know how you all are doing.
Vic, good luck on your continued success. I saw you story and photos and
you have done good by all of this! I hope your good luck continues!
May peace be with you always,

Ok can we get back to the subject of what this group is all about. WLS, this topic of public viewing is getting old. Sara

Hi,
I think it's GREAT that you lost 18 lbs. When is the last time you were able to sustain a liquid diet for 2 weeks. Keep up the good work and remember to follow the Dr's orders after your surgery. Keep us posted on your progress. I had a different kind of weight loss surgery and I actually gained weight before my surgery. However it did not affect the outcome. To date, I lost 47 lbs.

Vic,
This group is an amazing resource for WLS patients. I think it's great that you are willing to moderate this group for over 10 years! Keep up the good work!!
For those who are naive enough to think that posts in a PUBLIC form like the internet, go enjoy your own group. There will ALWAYS be people smart enough to access what they want on the internet. Now, maybe we can get back to discussing WLS and helping each other through this tough journey.

First I want to say that in general this group has been very helpful. I appreciate the little tidbits of information and advice that have come my way through this forum. Thanks for being the "gatekeeper," Vic. I know it can't be an easy job and must be time-consuming.

Having said that, I am amazed at the level of paranoia caused by the "Quick Weight Loss Tips" blog. They obviously receive the "After Weight Loss Surgery" posts in a daily digest and share it with their friends. They also receive and share a digest from Weight Watchers users. I don't find this at all offensive. It is not a personal vendetta against any of our group's members. I'm sure this blog's readers are learning from our posts just as we are. I guess I thought that was the point of our forum. And, as has been pointed out previously, nothing on the Web is truly private.

Why don't we get back to the real object of our group and discuss the issues of post-WLS life. This is a great group; let's keep helping each other and let others share it if they find it helpful.

Thanks!

Terri

:::Standing ovation:::
Thanks for speaking out Terri. As I said in prior posts, this group has been very useful. Going through the post-WLS journey, learning to not overeat and learning to eat small meals, exercise and take care of myself has been tough but well worth it. I can't remember the last time I lost 47 lbs or weighed 213. It is amazing how well this works when I follow the suggested food plan. My mom continues to be impressed by my willingness to exercise daily and I'm amazed also. It's easier to motivate myself to exercise as my legs don't hurt and my asthma doesn't bother me as much. Now, if I could stop eating a late night snack, I'd be doing great ;-) I know I will stop that in time also as I want to continue losing so I can become the best ME I can be.

6a. bulimia and anorexia after surgery
Posted by: "Chelsea" chelseafryer@rocketmail.com seachells
Date: Sat Jul 25, 2009 2:50 pm ((PDT))

Hi guys, it's Chelsea. I know I haven't posted in a while, but things are spinning out of control and I think I need some feedback and support. Before my wls last June I was approx 260 lbs and now I weigh 104. I'm 5'3" so that's not terrible, but more and more I find myself exercizing to the point of exhaustion or pain and forcing myself to vomit up at least one meal a day. Has anyone else gone through this? What kind of help do you recommend? I'm on medication for depression and anxiety and see a therapist regularly. Please, any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Chelsea,
Congratulations on your weight loss! Congratulations on your honesty and willingness to "tell on yourself"!
Exercise Anorexia is dangerous. Does your therapist know you are doing this? I suggest you discuss it with him or her. Also, I was told that I need to take a multi-vitamin daily because my body was not absorbing enough from the food I eat. If you are vomiting up a meal or two, you are losing the nutritional content of the food.
I was in rehab for alcoholism and drug addiction 21 years ago and the unit next to the addition unit was for eating disorders. I saw first hand the damage eating disorders can do.
We're here for you if you want to share!
