I am currently 513 lbs and 5'4 (female). I noticed a lot of you on here are in the 200-300 lb range going into surgery. I was wondering if any of you are/were around the same size as me at the time of your surgery. I decided on bpd w/ ds as that was what was recommended for someone my size on the net and Medicare covers it. I am waiting to see if I can get transportation to a doctor out of town so I can see what they think about it.

Hi Chelsa, talking honestly with your therapist is your best bet. Making your self throw up is very hard on your stomach and may cause damage to your surgery area. You have lost a lot of weight and probably look great! Take time to enjoy your new healthy body instead of focusing on exercising and vomiting. Keep posting we are here for you. Sara

Chelsea,
Congratulations on your weight loss! Congratulations on your honesty and willingness to "tell on yourself"!
Exercise Anorexia is dangerous. Does your therapist know you are doing this? I suggest you discuss it with him or her. Also, I was told that I need to take a multi-vitamin daily because my body was not absorbing enough from the food I eat. If you are vomiting up a meal or two, you are losing the nutritional content of the food.
I was in rehab for alcoholism and drug addiction 21 years ago and the unit next to the addition unit was for eating disorders. I saw first hand the damage eating disorders can do.
We're here for you if you want to share!

> Hi guys, it's Chelsea. I know I haven't posted in a while, but things are spinning out of control and I think I need some feedback and support. Before my wls last June I was approx 260 lbs and now I weigh 104. I'm 5'3" so that's not terrible, but more and more I find myself exercizing to the point of exhaustion or pain and forcing myself to vomit up at least one meal a day. Has anyone else gone through this? What kind of help do you recommend? I'm on medication for depression and anxiety and see a therapist regularly. Please, any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Don't worry that you have not reached your doctor's intended goal of 22 pounds. 18 pounds pre surgery are in itself a great achievement. Most doctors want you to begin developing a mindset pre-surgery that will help you focus post-surgery. You are on the brink of an amazing journey. Post surgery try to abide by your doctor's recommendations as closely as possible for optimal results and outcomes. You ultimate results will be dependent on you and your efforts. I am 10 months out and now 10 pounds away from goal. It has not been an easy journey but a very productive and rewarding journey that will be for a lifetime. I have set a cushion goal but will easily accept losing only another 5 pounds based on how great I currently look and feel. I am so proud of my achievement. In addition my health has improved greatly too.

Hi everyone,I have been a member now for a long time but never posted. I have noticed lately that I feel out of control with me eating habits. I am 26 months out from surgery and was wondering if anyone else went through eating everything and anything, even if you were;nt hungry or you knew you would'nt feel well afterwards. Any suggestions, I worried.
