Angi, something else you can do is keep track of how you are feeling and the time of month (if you know what I mean) in your journal. I can predict almost to the day now when I'm going to gain and when I'm going to lose based on the time of month. I'm always extremely hungry the week before and tend to lose about 2 lbs more than normal. Then I get bloated and gain it back the next week! Once you start getting used to how your body reacts to those cycles it won't be so surprising next time.

Well I like to work out with my Wii (cheaper than a gym membership and I can
wear whatever I want- and it's a lot more fun). Today I did two sets of
tennis (best of 5 each time) and one session with the My Wii Fitness Coach.
I also played Grey's Anatomy but that doesn't count for activity. lol But
it's still fun!
Anyway so then I decided since Wii games are expensive to go ahead and get
myself a membership at Gamefly. This works just like Netflix but with games.
So I have some exercise games in my cue and some fun games.

I learned that I am not made for tent camping LOL! My kids had a blast, but I was done and over with it by Tuesday!!! I never realized how much I depended on Aiden's naptime and kid's quiet time to keep me sane, until they went non-stop 24 hours a day while we were gone, bedtime was the happiest time of day!!
All in all we had a really good time though, I just love Lake Michigan and could sit on the beach all day! We took a TON of pictures that hopefully I'll start getting to tonight and uploading to my blog.
As for eating and all that good stuff, let's just say ouch and leave it at that!! I was so happy to go grocery shopping today and pretty much bought out the entire fresh produce section!!!
I don't remember what my weight was before we left; seems like months ago instead of just over a week, but I did weigh myself this morning. I promised myself I would never again see 200 lbs, but I'm dangerously teetering on that edge. My weight this morning was: 195.

Yup! Plan ahead. Even if the food choices aren't completely in your control,
that doesn't mean YOU have to be out of control.
I just got back from an 8 day vacation and was able to stay on program the
entire time without feeling deprived at all. I had a treat every day, but I
also walked EVERYWHERE. When we vacation we don't rent a car. We walked an
average of 10 miles a day. I journaled that, journaled my food, and came out
fine. There were a few situations where I was frustrated by lack of choices,
but I just ate less of what was available and had a lighter meal for the
next meal.
Some tips I use on vacations:
1. As soon as you get there, go to a grocery store and pick up fresh fruits,
snacks, etc.
2. Bring stuff with you from home for breakfast. I carry Bakers Breakfast
Cookies, and that is my breakfast every morning. I take it to the park (in
Disneyland) and enjoy it with a cup of coffee while waiting for the park to
open.
3. If I know I'm going to have a day where I can't control choices, I get
more APs and bank APs for that day. On our anniversary I ended up at a
restaurant where there was literally nothing I wanted to eat, so I chose the
thing I knew at least I would enjoy (although I probably wouldn't have
chosen it had there been other choices). I had banked APs. I ate half of it
and just let it go. Not fully in control of the choices, but not out of
control of the eating.
4. If calorie information is available, use it. If it isn't, look up
something similar. If you just aren't sure, use your brains and your
mouth...ask for dressings on the side, ask them to prepare it with no or
very low fat, etc. Once you've journaled it let it go and don't stress over
being right or wrong.
Above all, my rule is that I don't take a vacation from good health. So I
don't just chuck it for a week, any more than I don't leave my toothbrush at
home for that week and chuck THAT part of taking care of myself. I have a
serious health issue called obesity. It is currently controlled, but as soon
as I let go of that control I can fall right back into old habits. I've
never gained weight on a vacation that stayed. (I came back 1 lb higher
today, but my official weigh in is Friday so we'll see then.)
It is nice to be back to my old way of eating, though!

kind of a disappointing day-- went for the needle biopsy and they could not
do it. The only node (now this is good news) that was large enough to
biopsy was behind the jugular vein. So they could not do it because the
blood would get into the sample and ruin it.
I got a call and I have to call back. Seems they are trying to do the
slice and dice biopsy on the 22nd. Will know more later.
