Melissa:

I read your post and my weigh in's are at 6 pm and I am also
struggling with being up compared to my morning weight. What do you
eat on weigh in days? Just curious. I didnt go weigh in this week
because I had a 2.2 lb. gain last week when on my scales I had lost
so this week I couldn't take another bad surprise even though I feel
I would have lost them back. I love my leader and really dont want
to change weigh in days/times and if I go on lunch hour I couldnt
stay for the meetings. So...........

thanks for your help,

Angi

Btw, I WI first thing in the AM, but when I DID do meetings in the
beginning, I always ate breakfast and lunch on WI days(my meetings
were
at 6pm!) but I made sure to drink only water during the day. Don't
make yourself starve on WI days, it WON"T help! Also, if you wear
heavier clothes, somethings that'll affect your WI slightly. One
time
I wore jeans and it sure showed :/.

Angi,
Like I said, I do online-only now, so I WI at home in the AM(in the
buff), but when I went to meetings at 6pm, I ate normally excpet for
not eating dinner beforehand. I would eat breakfast of cereal and milk
or an english muffin with margarine and light cream cheese, then lunch
would be either a tv dinner(low sodium) or a sandwhich and a salad. I
would also make sure I drank EXTRA water that day, but not RIGHT before
going to the meeting(I lived/worked about 10 minutes away). I would
try to eat normally. Sometimes gains happen for no apparent reason.
TOM, extra sodium, not eating enough points(if you exercise alot, you
need to eat MORE not less.) Try playing with your points and see if
you can eat more weekly points, maybe that's the trick. I was affraid
to WI this week because I had eaten Chinese food Monday night(HIGH in
sodium), but I faced the scale and *LOST* 1.7! Sometimes the scale
surprises you.
Good luck. I'm going on vacation for a week, but feel free to email me
if you have any questions.
Melissa

Hi Marsha:

I feel your pain girl. I have been going to WW for about 8 wks now
and had lost 9.2 lbs. Last week for no reason at all I gained 2.2
lbs and this is my 3rd week of steady exercise (swimming and
walking). On my scales that morning I had lost a little so I was so
upset when I found out I had gained 2.2 lbs. I was back down this
week, but based on my prior week experience, I just couldnt go to the
meeting and take that chance of being unexpectedly up. My point is to
you that so far exercise has not been a benefit to me. I think I lose
better when I am NOT exercising! LOL! My weigh in is at 6:00 p.m, so
I do eat breakfast and lunch (light) and I never eat all of my extra
weekly points and some days I don't even eat all of my daily points.
I dont know what I am doing wrong but so far WW hasn't worked that
great for me.

Maybe we can work through this together. Please pass on any tips you
learn.

Take care and best of luck,

Angi

Is it genetically engineered?
Just wondering. We have no GMOs in our county (of which I am very happy) and can't get them here.

I don't see the problem with genetically engineered food. We eat very,
very, little truly natural food, and I'm quite glad about that. Why?
Because when we do get completely natural, unmessed with food we
destroy habitats and hurt the environment. Potatoes, Corn, Wheat.
Examples of food that are not in their original natural forms and have
not been natural for hundreds of years. When we cultivate food,
selectively breeding/polinating/whatever to get a desired outcome, we
are messing with the genetics of the food. We've been doing it for as
long as humans have been alive. It's a good thing. It's what makes our
lifestyles possible. More food, less effort. Otherwise we'd spend all
our time just looking for enough food not to starve.

Genetically modified food != unhealthy food.

9. The scale; was Disappointed..Marsha
Posted by: "Laura Coleman" laurabcoleman@yahoo.com laurabcoleman
Date: Sat Jul 25, 2009 9:10 am ((PDT))

This scale thing is a real problem for me that I wish to solve. In the past I became so terrorized by the scale and unexplained weight gain, I stopped going to WW at all. Each & every time I think I could do this by myself, I fall on my face. Then, I didn't have to worry about the scale, but the mirror and my clothes easily told me I was out of control.

I gained 1 lb. the week before and it took every bit of my will to go to the meeting this week. I lost that lb again and another .6lb. At my weight that could really leave me discouraged. I have been arguing inside myself about this issue.

If I wasn't going to ww, I'd very likely start eating badly again eventually. Right now, my blood sugar is balanced with no low bs attacks [I don't have diabetes, I have hypoglycemia- a baffling experience during most weight loss programs]. Right now, I am eating healthfully and joyously with good tasting food that satisfies me in more than one way. Right now, I AM loosing weight no matter how slowly this is. Right now, I have ceased starving myself or binging crazily.

I will live this time period whether I am on WW or not. So, in some ways, it doesn't matter how slowly my aging post-menopausal body lets go of the weight. Because that is outside of my control. And again, if I wasn't in WW as a really committed member, I'd be gaining weight instead. This way, I will at least someday get there.

That isn't an easy attitude for me to adopt, even if it is reality. With 200 lbs still to lose, it could take me over 4 years. But I've spend most of my life beating up on my body, following really crazy plans of eating, in that elusive goal of a normal sized body. So, I have to stop trying to force my body into doing what my emotions want. Instead, I have to nurture my body
with good food, healthy exercise and activity, and all the other healthy living behaviors.

So this is my take on the weight loss issue. The weight will come off my body in its own time.
I can only take care of my body, follow ww to the best of my ability each day, and learn to accept the weight loss process as it is. Or I can fight it like I've always done, and end up harming myself with food again.

Laura
