Thanks for the info.... I should check into it.
I don't have a bike so I assume I would have to buy one and I know
they are expensive.....
I'll put it on my bucket list!

Look for a used bike! I picked mine up for less than half the original
price. It was still pricey, but if you're just starting you don't need an
expensive road bike.
Way to go Cindie! LOVE IT! You did a fantastic job and sound so CONFIDENT
throughout! What a great role model!

A person can buy a bike at the salvation army thrift store or another second hand store for about 12-20 bucks and what I do is replace the seat so that its nice and soft and comfy :) a new seat is about 15 bucks at Walmart but so worth it compared to the hard ones.

Wow! That's great...what a workout. I have been kind of slacking this last month. I need to get back in the groove. I really need to start pushing myself to get to the gym (I have free use of the one at work). My weight loss has been slow and minimal. I have been reading all the messages here. Everyone here is great. I'll keep you posted.

3. Jen's Weigh In (7.27.09)
Posted by: "Jen" jenstk06@yahoo.com jenstk06
Date: Mon Jul 27, 2009 12:05 pm ((PDT))

Last Week: 195
Today: 195

Not
a huge surprise. Last week I was just trying to get back into weigh
loss mode, I concentrated more on eating than working out. This week
will be more of focusing on foods and water, but I'm also going to
start incorporating exercising back into my days. The plan this week is
to work out at least 3 days, but aiming for 5.

Ice ice, Baby!
Seriously. Give your knees a rest and do some upper body work. Ice them 2 or
3 times for 15 minutes at a time to reduce swelling. I wouldn't suggest
pilates because it can put a lot of strain on your knees. Walk if it doesn't
hurt, but if it does just give it 2-3 days to heal. You don't want to injure
yourself more, and swelling is an indication of injury!

Kristin,

I'm an emotional eater too. I've found that when I "need" to eat, and reframing won't work (because sometimes even after you attempt another activity to get out your emotions, you still feel like eating!), I choose something super low point that I get a lot of for very few points.

Also, one of my new favorite weight loss mantras is "Motivation does not bring action, action brings motivation." Basically, you just have to do it, whether it be tracking your food, exercise, going to meetings, or all of the above. As you do these things, you will see results which will then motivate you to keep going. Always remember, you can do it!

Michelle

You'll get there, Jennifer! I started where just walking down the block
would wind me.
Today I:

- Held a runner's bootcamp class (1 hour)
- Swam with a friend 1 mile in 45 minutes or so (across the lake...it was
awesome)
- Kayaked for an hour
- Ran 2.5 miles to round out my run to 5 miles

Now I don't do this every single day, obviously! I'd burn out! But I was
able to do all of this, and at one time I was right where you are! You'll
get there! Just keep on keeping on!

9. I Blew It!

Normally I am *so* good about staying on points but I really really blew it
yesterday!

I can't remember if everyone knows this but I am an insulin dependant
diabetic. Well even though I do stay on points, I don't think I always make
the *best* choices in food. I mean yes it is on points but much of it is
those 100 calorie packs so that doesn't sustain a person very long...Plus I
drink a ton of diet soda and almost no water.

So this week I decided to make better choices for how I spend my points and
also I am only allowing the sodas at work and only water or juice (the diet
juices that are 0-10 calories only) at home.

I guess I did *too* well because I had a very severe sugar low today. I was
down to 56 (for those that don't know normal is between 75 and 120) and I
was shaking severely. So severely that I could hardly hold my finger up to
the test strip to put the blood on it.

So... Even though I know better and keep glucose tablets around for this
purpose- I went into panic mode and just wanted that awful feeling to go
away- so... I went crazy on sugar! I ate a brownie (my husband baked
brownies Sunday night), a bunch of Jelly Bellies, a cup of chocolate milk. I
know I went way over cuz I only had 9 points left to spend (3 left for the
day and 6 weeklies) and I was planning to eat 0 point foods if I got hungry
cuz I was saving the 9 points for the spaghetti my husband said he was
cooking for dinner.

WI is Wednesday and I am dreading it. I know I can use the no weigh in pass
but I want to hold myself accountable.

I know this was a different circumstance but still just because I was having
a low was no reason to get all crazy with it! I started with just the
brownie then waited and retested and was still 56 so then that's when I
panicked and started eating anything with sugar I could find. I wish my
hubby had been home cuz he is very good at talking me down when I am about
to do something stupid.

Once I had had a particularly bad day at work and was so stressed I told my
husband I was going to go get a Big Mac and fries and he said "You don't
want to do that, how about if I take you to Applebee's and you can order
from the WW menu?" That's back when they had the separate WW menu. Now you
have to peruse the menu and find the WW items mixed in with the rest of
them.
