Last night I went out for jog and about 1/2 mile into it, I FELL. I tripped on
a glob of brick mortar on the long drive/road I live on. A duplex (for widows
from church) is being built and this artifact was left on the road.

My disgrace was witnessed by a friend who was driving up the road to pick up her
daughter from our church camp. It was the first time I have ever fallen while
walking or jogging since I started walking a year ago -- and I had to do it with
a witness. My friend is a former runner herself (she has been stopped by severe
varicose veins) and she had a first aid kit and "doctored" up my hands for me by
squirting on some anti-bacterial stuff.

I am pleased and grateful to report that I suffered NO serious injury. My
hands, left shin/knee, and left shoulder are skinned up and a little tender to
touch. . . but nothing was twisted, sprained, or broken!!
I completed 3 miles of power walking last night and then got up for a 3 mile
walk/jog this morning before spending 3.5 hours picking vegetables (beans
mostly) in my garden.

Hi,  Sorry you fell.  BTDT, it's so humiliating.  Sure hurts more than it did when I was 6 years old.

I was not motivated today.  Just did 45 minutes on the Cybex cross trainer.  But I did up the tension.  That will be my challenge for this week.  Hopefully 45-50 minutes with more tension.  Back to weights tomorrow.

I love my new life!
When I first started and took the quiz my number was 48.
Weight Watchers instructs us to go no higher than 44. So that will ease it a bit for you.
I had problems getting in all my points but took everyone's warnings to heart. We MUST eat all of our DAILY POINTS. I would eat healthy foods from the FILLING FOOD list, counting every little point. I still had points at the end of the day.
This is when I would have peanut butter or full fat cheese to quickly spend those points up at the end of the day. heck once or twice I had a half cup of Real ice cream!
Soon I got used to getting in all those points and then my points started to lower and I lost weight. As I neared 40 POINTS DAILY I felt, "This is just right". I wasn't hungry, I had no points left over at the end of the day.
When I went below 40, like around 35 to 38 I noticed that I started wild cravings and felt hungry, even tired. My wise WW Leader told me, "Listen to your body!"
That was when I started eating a few of my weekly points to supplement what I was missing in DAILY POINTS.
Now My daily point value is around 32 and I use all of my weekly points evenly spread through the week.
I am earning MAD CRAZY amounts of ACTIVITY POINTS every day! I don't seem to need them and I credit the fact that I spend almost every one of my DAILY & WEEKLY points on the FILLING FOOD list, paying attention first to the HEALTHY GUIDLINES.
I love my new life!
I wake up at 5:30 AM to go on a 2.5 mile bike ride, then a 2 mile walk, then a 2.5 mile bike ride back home. Shower Dress & Breakfast and then I start my work day. Around lunch time I do a 30 to 45 minute workout at CURVES then a quick lunch. Around dinner time I go for a swim then dinner. In the evening I go for another bike ride equal to the one in the morning.
I have lost 128 pounds in 10 months.
I keep a Website with a full photo journal.

Galen,
Wow, I'm impressed that you do that much working out! I'm lucky if I
get *some* activity in every day, let alone biking, walking, Curves AND
swimming in one day! It's no wonder that you've lost the weight you
have! When we get back from Disney i'm going to join our YMCA and swim
and do weights, but for right now I'm doing swimming in our backyard
pool (when it doesn't rain, like today) or walking/jogging, or
crunches(what I'll probably wind up doing tonight). I started with 27
DPAs and now am down to 21. I eat all my WPAs and earn about 20-25
APs/week and eat all but 5-10 of them, some weeks more, some weeks less
depending on my hunger. I'm also planning to go back to Simply Filling
when we come back, because I had great success on Core before, but I
got lazy about it. I still count points, I just don't eat as many
Filling Foods as I should.
Have a great week!
Melissa

You are my new hero!! I checked out your website. What an inspiration!
Your workout makes me feel tired, but I am sure that is one of the
reasons you have been so successful! Total, I need to lose 181 pounds,
but that number sounds so HUGE that I am thrilled to have the small
goals, not one long term goal. You have made me want to start moving.
Now if my heel will just permit it, I messed it up and am on steroids
for it (which is sending my appetite through the roof!). I have a new
puppy I want to start walking, as well as dusting off the belly dance
DVDs. And as soon as my summer classes are over, I'm going back to the
weekly classes.

NON-Scale Victory

When I started attempting any kind of activity swimming was on top of
the list because I could get more done with less pressure on my feet
ankles knees & hips.

I remember being in tears and out of breath as I squeezed into a size
4-X swimsuit. It was a real JOB getting it on my size 6-X body.

I have sewn up each side seam once to take it in a little but lately
as I wore that 4-X I have keeping it up with pins in various places
because now it is way too big.

This weekend I saw a swimsuit on sale and bought it.

I just put it on with minimal effort.

SIZE 18

I am crying so much I can't see the screen or keyboard.

Be happy with me

Hello, all,
I've been doing "momentum" since late January and have lost 35#. I had lost another 22 on my own prior to joining.
The problem I've been having is now that I've added additional exercise (last three moths) - walking 3-4 miles daily and 50 minutes of circuit work 5/6x weekly, I've been stuck at the same weight (197#).
AND, exercising really increases my appetite.
I am a vegan and have been for many years, so I do eat enough vegs and adequate protein (actually, I'm very careful with that); but my weight hasn't moved for four weeks!
Any suggestions are so very gratefully appreciated.
Shen

Your body may be converting some fat into muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. Once it gets used to the new excercise and change in routine your body will adjust and start to lose weight again.  Are your clothes fitting better?  The scale should not be the judge of your weight loss.  I have been stuck at the same weight for a while as well, but my trainer said it is just that my body is adjusting.  As long as you are watching what you eat and drinking enough water you should be fine.  Congrats on the weight loss.  That is awesome!

Hi Shen,

Fat does not turn into muscle, the two are completely different structures.
My best suggestion to you is to not only talk with your trainer, but perhaps
a health professional as well.

Congrats on the weight loss and keep up the good work.

Once on a diet, I went for 4 months at the same weight. I personally, and this is just what happened to me, finally began loosing again as I  paid more attention to my body and the physical issues that arose as I dropped the weight.

I'm sorry.  I didn't mean that the fat was turning to muscle.  I meant that when you exercise more you are burning the fat and gaining muscle.  That is what I meant to say.  Sorry about that.  I know that fat cannot be converted to muscle, but you can BURN fat and GAIN muscle (which in turn will give you toned arms and legs and that nice 6 pack that a lot of people really want).  My point was that maybe she was gaining muscle and to not let the scale be the determination of her weight loss.  weight loss comes in different forms, one is on the scale, and another is when you notice that your clothes are fitting better because you are losing inches.  Just wanted to put that out there.  Maybe that is the reason why the scale does not seem to move.  My trainer said that she had a client that did not lose anything for three months, even though she was working out 5 days a week for over an hour each day.  She was very discouraged, but she kept at it
and after that three month plateau she started losing again.  During the time that she was not losing she did notice that her clothes were fitting alot looser and she felt more toned in some areas.  Good luck.

Angie, you are right. The first place is your under clothes, lol... and socks believe it or not! They no longer cut into your legs. Feel your ribs when you lay down. Drink your water and you will feel boney spots that you haven't felt for a very long time. The scale will catch up... stay OP! And recheck your logs...are you really OP??? Many of us think so and find we weren't measuring our portions or counting properly or getting our Essentials...... especially WATER!!!

Hugs, Deb

I did peddle like a mad woman most times. Even wore the kids out, lol.. was pretty good with eating but did have 3 smores over the week. I missed my weigh in last thursday but my scales say that I maintained.. we'll find out on Thursday.

Congrats to those who lost! I will be reading but not commenting on all of them.. I'd monopolize the mail...hehehe.. hang in there to those with gains and woot.. let's go get em to everyone! OP and going dowwwwwwwwwwwwwn again!

Hugs, Deb
