Thanks Chelsea.
I am reading that I may not be able to tolerate milk...I love cereal and don't know if I could give that up - I guess if it makes me throw up I would, but I would miss it.
I'm glad you are doing so well - it is very encouraging. I am in the pre-approval stage and hoping I can get the surgery sometime in December!

Leanne-
I am just over a year out and am down 160 lbs. I can eat or drink anything SLOWLY and have never had dumping syndrome. Good luck on what is a life changing journey.

I could not at first after surgery, but now I can drink about 1/2 cup of milk without an effect. You can also try milk without lactose, which you can buy in most supermarkets, or soy or rice milk. Just watch out for the sweeteners in those 'other' milks. Don't trade a lack of lactose for fructose corn syrup or sugar.

I agree, writing down or recording it on a computer-based program (I like fitday.com) makes a BIG difference. You tend to 'forget', other wise. It's a PITA, but worth the effort, especially if you are brutally honest with yourself and record EVERYTHING that goes into your mouth. fitday.com has a database you can customize with nutrition info if you don't find a particular food there.
