I have become very fond of cereal with unsweetened almond milk, vanilla
flavor (Blue Diamond) with my cereal. It is an unrefrigerated box on
the shelf of Trader Joe's and other health food stores, and 1 cup is
only 40 calories. I have 1/2 cup of cereal, usually Original Fiber One,
or Original All Bran, or Original GoLean, and 1/2 cup of Almond Milk.
Very low-calorie, tasty, and quite filling (for those of us with a
gastric bypass).

I would, but I would miss it.

Hi everyone.

I am struggling to get in my 64 oz of water daily and to eat. I am 18 days out from RNY.

My doctor sent me back to the hospital because he said I was dehydrated and needed an IV.

How do you manage to get in enough water? How do you eat, even just two bites, when you are not hungry?

I am feeling like a failure. I don't know why I can't get the requirements in my body. I have even become lactose intolerant since surgery.

Has anyone else had this trouble?

Thanks!

Teresa

Hello. I am 6 months out and had a horrible timd. If u drink 30 cc- 1 oz. Of water every 15 min. You can get your daily requirement. Same goes for the protien shakes. 1- 2 oz at a time. Just rememember everything takes time and dont get discouraged. Good luck and god bless you on this life changeing journey!

This is a great answer.  The main thing is, don't get discouraged, and it's DEFINITELY too early to feel like a failure.  You just had major surgery and your pouch is tiny.  Just do the best you can, and the 1 oz every 15 min is doable.  The protein shakes are/ liquid too, so they'll help you stay hydrated while you keep taking in protein.  Those are most important at this stage of the game, and you can do it.  Just be patient with yourself and don't give up.

I spent the first week of my surgery sleeping. I was in so much pain. But I did drink water alittle at a time just sipping it. I didn't start protein until almost a month after surgery. Eveyone is different. Just drink some juice watered down, water, and I drank crystal light. I also ate pudding and applesauce. I am a month out and have lost 35 lbs. I started slow and am still going slow.

Hi Teresa,

I'm 22 days out today. I am having trouble getting in all my water and protien.  I'm ok eating my 2 ounces of food, usually cottage cheese.  I drink Crystal light in my water and that helps.  The protien, I'm going to try some of the suggestions given here.  I also do sugar free popsicles for liquid.  I seem to be nauseated any time I eat or drink anything.  I am going to call the surgeon Monday as they said they can usually give us something to help with that.

Good luck to you.  If you find something that works for you, let me know.  Day by Day.  We can do this.  :)

Denise
