Raising hand and asking, "What is Zumba?"
I think I've found me a workout buddy! I put a message out on Facebook
to friend in my town asking for a workout partner, as if I have one I
am more likely to go to the gym. I got an answer from a woman I was in
a class with several semesters ago, and she goes to one of the gyms on
Ft. Sill, also. She goes to a different one that I usually go to, but
I'll switch to be able to have a partner. I know I do better with one.

um...I took the class and I'm still not sure what Zumba is exactly LOL.
It is an exercise class that uses latin-themed music and dance steps. Does that sound right?
that's great that you found an exercise partner! I imagine that would be great motivation!

Vitamin B-12. You get it in all of the B vitamins and multi-vitamins,
but I always found the B-12 to help relieve stress.

A doctor can give you shots, but you can also get it in the vitamin section in pills. GNC also has it in a sublingual format (you let it dissolve under your tongue; supposedly gets more in your system) and liquid.

I ran/walked 3 miles on the treadmill. It was still very very hot (like breathing soup) and afterwards I felt lightheaded and slightly ill. Had some chocolate milk and a shower and felt better!

Hi all. Had a pretty rocky week. Thought that I was really gonna have a gain cause I was snackin so much the past 3 days due to a sinus infection and the "blues". Fortunately everything in the house is OP and what I snacked on was WW 1pt snacks or laughing cow and Triscuit Thin crisps or WW fudge bars.. hostess 100 calorie packs... sugar free/fat free puddings.. baked doritos (always only one serving) and salsa. But it sure seemed like I was goin nuts. I did drink my water every day, however. Anyhoo.... imagine my surprise to awake this morning and my scale said that I was down .4. I go to the meeting and I am down 1.4!! HUH? Thank gawd I never left the house and everything here is okay. Lawd knows what would have happened. So I'm still feeling like crum from the infection, and still down in the dumps cause I don't feel like doin a dang thing... but I'm ever so happy with my loss!

7a. MEETINGS VS ONLINE PLUS ANOTHER OPTION
Posted by: "CMCDonna@epix.net" CMCDonna@epix.net memoriesmom2002
Date: Thu Aug 13, 2009 3:37 pm ((PDT))
Hi everyone,
I'm chiming in late on this "debate" but I just wanted to put in my two cents, for what it is worth. I have done WW on and off for over 10 years. I did really well the first time around and lost over 25 pounds but then had more babies and kept adding on the weight. I would periodically go back to meetings, do great for a couple weeks, then just go over points constantly and basically maintain. (one leader commented that I was great at maintainance!). I had good leaders but I never felt connected to any people there. I learned stuff and getting weighed in was a slight motivator (obviously not enough), but it wasn't enough to really get me going.
THEN I would decide I couldn't afford it, or didn't have the time for meetings, or whatever. I would sign up for WWonline instead. I would journal for awhile, but eventually would feel like I just couldn't count another thing, and I'd stop and eventually quit WWonline.
This cycle went on for years with me. I kept putting on a few more pounds each year, taking off a few, but adding a few more.
During that time, I would from time to time try to find someone to be a peer weight loss partner. I tried posting for it on this list and others, trying to see if my sister would do it with me, etc. Nothing ever worked out. I was craving one-on-one support and motivation but wasn't getting it...not from meetings, not from online, and not from individuals.
Finally, this year, something "clicked". Maybe it was turning 40. Maybe it was all the reading I was doing about health-related issues. Maybe it was several people in my immediate family getting diagnosed with type II diabetes. In any case, I started exercising fairly regularly. I wasn't counting points, but I was eating better. I was reading this list, and other weight loss and health related books, articles and magazines.
then I found what I had been looking for all along. I found an online personal trainer and weight loss coach. She set me up on an exercise plan. She reviews my food logs daily and gives me feedback daily. She gives me positive feedback all the time, but also makes gentle suggestions on how I can do better. I had been looking for one-on-one support and guidance and I finally found it. For me and my personality type (and my lack of real support at home), this was the KEY. I have lost a total of 34 pounds, 28 since I started with her in May. More importanly, I have stuck to journaling EVERYY SINGLE DAY since I knew I had to send her my food logs. I have made exercise and healthier choices an integral part of my everyday life. For less than the cost of WW meeting, I am achieving my goals for a healthier life.
I want to say I couldn't have done it without her...but I guess I probably could have, but she made it a whole lot easier for me!!
This is NOT to put down WW in any way, shape, or form. I think WW is the BEST diet plan out there and a very sensible and doable plan. Howwever, I just wanted to put out this as an option for those (like me) who may need some one-on-one coaching.
Now she will probably kill me but I bet you can guess who this trainer is...our own Tory! She is great if you are looking for something like this. Now I know she would never advertise overtly, but I can plug for her LOL! I always admired her knowledge and her personal story on this list and so I went to her. (she most defnitely did NOT ask me to post anything like this...I am just posting of my own accord!).
so that is my story such as it is...still unfinished...

Oh Donna, you seriously bring tears to my eyes. Thank you SO much for your
support and testimonial! You are a JOY to work with! I look forward to your
emails every day!
Donna is a great resource for how to do it right. She's not perfect, but
she's smart. She learns from every situation she's in and makes adjustments
as needed. She has gone camping a number of times this summer and has
journaled EVERY bite! It's awesome! I am very proud of her!

8. Before and During,

Before and During,
Last year, the summer of 2008 I vacationed at my Lake Cottage in North East PA. The mountains there are beautiful and the neighbors are like one big family. Weighing 413 pounds I had to enjoy the annual baseball game from a sitting position. I had always watched that game, never participated.
I could hardly walk more than a few feet without assistance, and even with assistance I was out of breath quickly. People cattered to me like I was handicaped. I was.
The last time I saw any of them was 11 months ago. Not even one of my friends or neighbors knows that I joined Weight Watchers when I came home from the Lake last year.
Since they last saw me I have lost -135.2 pounds.
I am going to video record their reactions to my weight loss and I will post that video right here on this page when I return. I will have those videos posted to this page by August 26th when I return.
Right now there are two sets of photos on this page which reflect what they last saw compared to what they will see now.

Wish me luck!
