Subject: [Serious-Weight-Watchers] Before and During,

Before and During,
Last year, the summer of 2008 I vacationed at my Lake Cottage in North East PA. The mountains there are beautiful and the neighbors are like one big family. Weighing 413 pounds I had to enjoy the annual baseball game from a sitting position. I had always watched that game, never participated.

I could hardly walk more than a few feet without assistance, and even with assistance I was out of breath quickly. People cattered to me like I was handicaped. I was.

The last time I saw any of them was 11 months ago. Not even one of my friends or neighbors knows that I joined Weight Watchers when I came home from the Lake last year.

Since they last saw me I have lost -135.2 pounds.

I am going to video record their reactions to my weight loss and I will post that video right here on this page when I return. I will have those videos posted to this page by August 26th when I return.

Right now there are two sets of photos on this page which reflect what they last saw compared to what they will see now.

Wish me luck!

My husband actually gives me shots every two weeks.  I have tried giving myself the shot but I can't.  My doctor gave me a prescription for the B-12 and the needles so we can do them at home.  I feel so much better after the shots.

A doctor can give you shots, but you can also get it in the vitamin section in pills. GNC also has it in a sublingual format (you let it dissolve under your tongue; supposedly gets more in your system) and liquid.

Referencing the key parts of the email...
I don't know what will help you as what I do may not work for others.
But, let me ask you this. What is it about "drinking alcohol" de-
stresses you? I think, once you know what living buzzed *GG* de-
stresses you, will help you determine an alternative.
just a point to ponder

yes and I posted a few days ago that I get mine in the vitamin section and
they're time released. Just remember to take them in the morning so you're
not up all night.

Hi Donna -
How do we contact Tory ourselves? I've looked in the files and database, and don't see her there anywhere. Is she taking new clients?
Thanks for any info you can give me on how to contact her.
and great going on your part!
Annie
.

then I found what I had been looking for all along. I found an online personal trainer and weight loss coach. She set me up on an exercise plan. She reviews my food logs daily and gives me feedback daily. She gives me positive feedback all the time, but also makes gentle suggestions on how I can do better. I had been looking for one-on-one support and guidance and I finally found it. For me and my personality type (and my lack of real support at home), this was the KEY. I have lost a total of 34 pounds, 28 since I started with her in May. More importanly, I have stuck to journaling EVERYY SINGLE DAY since I knew I had to send her my food logs. I have made exercise and healthier choices an integral part of my everyday life. For less than the cost of WW meeting, I am achieving my goals for a healthier life.

I want to say I couldn't have done it without her...but I guess I probably could have, but she made it a whole lot easier for me!!

This is NOT to put down WW in any way, shape, or form. I think WW is the BEST diet plan out there and a very sensible and doable plan. Howwever, I just wanted to put out this as an option for those (like me) who may need some one-on-one coaching.

Now she will probably kill me but I bet you can guess who this trainer is...our own Tory! She is great if you are looking for something like this. Now I know she would never advertise overtly, but I can plug for her LOL! I always admired her knowledge and her personal story on this list and so I went to her. (she most defnitely did NOT ask me to post anything like this...I am just posting of my own accord!).

so that is my story such as it is...still unfinished...

Hi everyone,
I'm chiming in late on this "debate" but I just wanted to put in my two cents, for what it is worth. I have done WW on and off for over 10 years. I did really well the first time around and lost over 25 pounds but then had more babies and kept adding on the weight. I would periodically go back to meetings, do great for a couple weeks, then just go over points constantly and basically maintain. (one leader commented that I was great at maintainance!). I had good leaders but I never felt connected to any people there. I learned stuff and getting weighed in was a slight motivator (obviously not enough), but it wasn't enough to really get me going.
THEN I would decide I couldn't afford it, or didn't have the time for meetings, or whatever. I would sign up for WWonline instead. I would journal for awhile, but eventually would feel like I just couldn't count another thing, and I'd stop and eventually quit WWonline.

This cycle went on for years with me. I kept putting on a few more pounds each year, taking off a few, but adding a few more.

During that time, I would from time to time try to find someone to be a peer weight loss partner. I tried posting for it on this list and others, trying to see if my sister would do it with me, etc. Nothing ever worked out. I was craving one-on-one support and motivation but wasn't getting it...not from meetings, not from online, and not from individuals.

Finally, this year, something "clicked". Maybe it was turning 40. Maybe it was all the reading I was doing about health-related issues. Maybe it was several people in my immediate family getting diagnosed with type II diabetes. In any case, I started exercising fairly regularly. I wasn't counting points, but I was eating better. I was reading this list, and other weight loss and health related books, articles and magazines.

then I found what I had been looking for all along. I found an online personal trainer and weight loss coach. She set me up on an exercise plan. She reviews my food logs daily and gives me feedback daily. She gives me positive feedback all the time, but also makes gentle suggestions on how I can do better.

(she most defnitely did NOT ask me to post anything like this...I am just posting of my own accord!).

so that is my story such as it is...still unfinished.. .

Donna,

That is great.

I am lucky in that my WW Team Leader is so supportive and even gave out her
e-mail address and tells us to e-mail anytime we need to. She's always very
prompt and helpful if you do. And the group is great too.

Subject: [Serious-Weight- Watchers] MEETINGS VS ONLINE PLUS ANOTHER OPTION

Hi everyone,

I'm chiming in late on this "debate" but I just wanted to put in my two cents, for what it is worth. I have done WW on and off for over 10 years. I did really well the first time around and lost over 25 pounds but then had more babies and kept adding on the weight. I would periodically go back to meetings, do great for a couple weeks, then just go over points constantly and basically maintain. (one leader commented that I was great at maintainance! ).

I did about 45 min of hand weights (mostly upper body) and core work today. I kind of felt like running but I guess I'm supposed to take a day off :) But I like doing weights too for a change.

Someone please tell me why I do this...?

After I have a great loss (for instance this week I lost 1.2 pounds) I don't
know what happens but sooner or later I keep the momentum but then somewhere
in there (today was the somewhere in there) I say "It's a free day!" and
while I still eat pretty much what I eat any other day, I don't track a
thing! I know not tracking is bad bad bad- 40 lashes with a wet noodle and
all that and setting myself up for a failure but for some reason if I do
really great that week then sooner or later I say I can have a free day
later that week. Why why why do I do that? I'm trying to find out why so
then I can stop that kind of destructive behavior.

Do you think you do it as a reward?  I lost weight so I can eat because I did so well.
When do you start you weekly tracking? I use to weigh on Wed. so I just would forget about tracking that day because my weekly points started on Thurs. I think it's a little game that we play until we finally decide to we aren't getting away with anyhing.  We sure can be sly when trying to sneek in free days but in the end is shows up at the scale...

Carol,

I track on Wednesdays cuz that is my meeting day so it's just easiest day to
make WI day the day I start my new week.

I never thought of that but you could be right because (other than this week
when I didn't do it till yesterday) almost every week I lost I also gave
myself a free day the same day as WI. But if I gained or just maintened I
said "I need to do better" and was diligant with *everything* right down to
the condiments on a sandwich.

Thanks for the two cents, I really appreciate it.
