Hi
Well made it home. Spent yesterday recuperating--LOL I also had a run to
the lab for blood tests and then grocery shopping. Dh did not think food
was necessary--

Monday I have an MRI and CT Scan. Thursday I see the radiologist and
Friday the oncologist. My feet are back to normal but body and face are still
bloated. I do not feel like eating== everything tastes the same.

The cruise was fun. Will send pictures when I get then transferred from
one computer to the other.

Huggs and love to all-- missed you
Ginny

3. Good and Not so good news...
Posted by: "Jen" jenstk06@yahoo.com jenstk06

The good news, I called our insurance company today after receiving a brochure from them that they will pay all or a portion of Weight Watchers. Because of my weight, height and BMI, they are paying for the first 3 months!! After that, I'll only have to pay $5 a month!! That's my good news :) They do have to verify my height and weight with a Dr's note, I called today and they said I can come in on Monday. The insurance company gave me the code to sign in, so as long as the Dr's scale isn't too far off from mine, I'm all set! I really would like to get down to my wedding day weight which was around 120; and for my height and weight, my weight goal range is between 109-137 and WW gave me the goal of 121 when I set everything up, so that's what I'm shooting for right now, we'll see what happens when I get closer.

The not so good news, I knew my weight was too good to be true LOL! Karlie wanted to see how much she weighs and she stepped on the scale and it said 188, which was my weight on Monday, I then had the other two kids and Spencer step on it and it said 188 for the 3 of them too...dang! We switched out the batteries and it started working again (this time I weighed the kids first!!), so I am weighing 196.5. I have my "official" WW weigh in on Monday, so we'll see what happens.

Tracy, that was so sweet of you to do! I know you're very proud of Cyndi, as she's done a fantastic job! How lucky was she to have her sister as her leader! I took a peak at your entire website, and it's great as well!

Thank you for celebrating Cyndi! You did an amazing job--as did she!

Faye,

Back in 2005 when I was in Iowa, I always went to the Thursday 10:00 am
meeting. I loved it. My leader was fantastic, I was actually following the
program faithfully and lost about 30 pounds. Well, it all started when I
would "reward" myself with my fountain Coke every Thursday after my meeting.
Then it grew to a fountain Coke plus something else. Next thing I knew, I
was taking the whole week-end off and only following my program on Monday,
Tuesday, and Wednesday. Eventually I quit losing and quit going.

Today, I have gained all but 9 pounds back. I started back then at 228.4
and when I rejoined this time (now I live in North Carolina and haven't
found a meeting I can consistently attend or a leader that excites me as
much as Anne did in Iowa) I was 226.2. I am now down to 219 - but it all
started with that "reward."

Make a list of other things you can reward yourself with. Maybe you want a
pedicure. Tell yourself if you follow program all week, after your meeting
you will treat yourself to that. Even if the scale doesn't budge - if you
have followed program you have earned your reward. Sometimes the scale
doesn't show our week - whether good or bad. We all know we have lost on
weeks where we knew we didn't work for it! LOL.

This time - I am recommitting myself to my weight loss efforts, and I am
going to stop with the after meeting fountain cokes. I can have a fountain
coke, but it must be planned for or put in the points budget.

So why do you do this? Because you can. LOL. Maybe it is your sub
conscious way of control. Maybe you see a great loss and feel you have some
breathing room. There could be lots of reasons. But nip it in the bud! I
know from personal experience, it CAN (but not necessarily) lead to a
complete quitting of your program!

Kelley

226.2/219.0/140

Next mini goal - 215

Someone please tell me why I do this...?

After I have a great loss (for instance this week I lost 1.2 pounds) I don't
know what happens but sooner or later I keep the momentum but then somewhere
in there (today was the somewhere in there) I say "It's a free day!" and
while I still eat pretty much what I eat any other day, I don't track a
thing! I know not tracking is bad bad bad- 40 lashes with a wet noodle and
all that and setting myself up for a failure but for some reason if I do
really great that week then sooner or later I say I can have a free day
later that week. Why why why do I do that? I'm trying to find out why so
then I can stop that kind of destructive behavior.

Kelly,
I think this behavior is so typical of us who need to lose weight.  Food has always been a reward in my family which followed along when I had my own family.  The idea of non food rewards is so very important.  I think this also goes along with setting small goals too. I am most successful when I set small goals with a non food reward when I reach that goal.
