Claudia, I'm just wondering if your doctor gave you a foot brace that you
can wear while you're either sleeping or just sitting around. I was given
one by the foot doctor and haven't yet had to have the shots. They told me
it stretches that place where the heel spurs start, and like I said you wear
it during long periods when you know you'll be sitting or lying down because
you're not to walk on it. Maybe this has already been tried, but I thought
I'd suggest it if you haven't tried one.
I am also looking for show suggestions, both good walking shoes and good
around-the-house type shoes that won't make my feet worse. My doctor didn't
seem to care for New Balance and suggested maybe Brooks or Asics. As far as
Crocs go, I wanted some but my children are telling me absolutely NO because
they're so ugly. Being visually impaired myself I'm assuming, from what
they say, that they're embarrassingly ugly, but gee if they're comfortable
and help my condition I'd hope sighted friends and family would overlook
this--unless they're really THAT ugly.
So Claudia, I too am looking for good shoe suggestions for any occasion, as
regular shoes make my feet protest. And if you haven't, you may want to see
if they'll give you a brace because using it may help relieve pain
eventually.

I agree with Joanne. There are aparatus you can wear while sleeping that can
help. It takes a LOT of time to treat PF. It really does. Here's an
excellent medical website on it:
http://www.aafp.org/afp/20010201/467.html
This is the apparatus:
http://www.alimed.com/Alimed/product/FREEDOMreg-Dorsal-PF-Night-Splint,18065,276.htm
Basically it holds your foot into a position so it doesn't allow the fascia
to relax during the night and tighten up. Instead it's held "tight" so that
when you wake up you don't have that initial feeling of walking on glass.
DEFINITELY shoes are important. Go to a good running store...avoid chains
(except Road Runner Sports or Fleet Feet) and talk at length with a TRAINED
associate who can evaluate your gait. Wear those shoes all the time that is
possible because they'll provide the support your need. NEVER go
barefoot...ever. Not sure about light shoes with support, but talking with
the instructor is a very good idea. You may be able to find someone who can
teach you to tape your feet as well. Ballet dancers often suffer from PF and
use taping inside the shoes to help.
Give it a lot of time, be patient, and do NOT give up on any of the
treatments. Keep taking the NSAIDs and doing the exercises.

I couldn't think of the proper term at the time, Claudia, but acute
inflammation can lead to metabolic syndrome, which is the start of a whole
HOST of life altering diseases.

6. I Think I'm Finally Back on Track

Well as some of you know, I got off the beaten path for a little while but I
think I'm finally back on track!
We had meet the teacher day at my daughter's school today (that is a story
in itself!) and decided to go out to eat after. We went to a local cafe type
place here called The Garden Grille. It is one of our favorites restaurants
because besides what's on the regular menu, they have daily specials that
are usually not on the regular menu. Well, I was good! We were only
discussing going out before, hubby for some reason was in a money doesn't
grow on trees mood because he said "Do you realize one dinner at Garden
Grille could be two school uniforms for Marcella?" So I didn't think we were
going to end up there or anywhere but I brought along my Dinining Out and
Food Companion books just in case and so was able to make sensible choices.
I chose: a grilled fish filet, a salad with honey mustard dressing, steamed
(I think they were steamed) zucchini and carrots, and mashed potatoes with
no gravey.

You could also use a Turkey Burger--Jennie-O brand is good (don't know if it's available where you are) and not high in points either. They're also seasoned I believe.

Thank you for the suggestion. We have ate ground turkey before- I've just
never tried pre-made turkey patties I usually go for a Boca Burger or
Morningstar Farms when it comes to that.
But I *do* love turkey bacon!
