Deb,
I hope you did well at your meeting.
I lost 1.2 for the 4 weeks I was gone for vacation.
This is sthe first time in my 36 yrs on WW that I didn't feel guiily while traveling and I eat very well but didn't go overboard on any one food and that I didn't feel like I was on a diet.
I love this new plan. I also want to thank my dear hubby who was supportive finding restraunts that served the food that were on plan.

Congrats Sue! For me it is true. But IMO you have to be dedicated to going whether you fear a gain or not. Many skip meetings fearing a gain. So much of the support and general dedication to the program seems to get lost...again IMO..
Congrats again!

I've started attending meetings mostly to get my hubby involved (to get his
blood sugar levels down so he doesn't have to take insulin).
But interestingly enough, I've lost 3 lbs in the last two weeks. and I
*never* lose that fast. Beginning to believe it's true what they say - that
people who attend meetings lose better.

Glad that you found relief through the Crocs Claudia. I heard that they might be going out of business however....sob...

I got my "real" Crocs yesterday, and you are right, I was able to feel
it immediately. They felt so good, I wore them out of the store! I
also like the way that my heel feels "cradled" in the back. I also got
a pair of their flip-flops for when I'm first getting out of bed, or
after I'm in bed reading, etc., and need to get up.
I live in a warm climate (Oklahoma). I will probably be able to wear
these up until November and start wearing them again in March. Here,
if you blink, you might miss our fall or spring.
And someone asked me about if I really got a good walking shoe. I did
have a professional evaluation of my feet about three years ago and
ended up in a pair of Ryka's (after being totally disappointed in New
Balance). I have to say, those walking shoes feel the best on me than
any shoe has ever felt! I need to buy a new pair, I've about worn
these out. I know when you use them regularly, three years is a long
time for a pair of shoes, so you can guess I really haven't used them
that regularly, but hope to start soon.
Also, Tory, when I went to the mall yesterday to get my Crocs, I used
a cane (my husband needs one and has several, including one he could
adjust for my height) and that gave me a surprisingly large amount of
relief, too.
Tory wrote:

It is very sad that Crocs may be going out of business. The reason is the cheap knock offs from China.

There is a big difference Claudia. I own 4 pr of crocs. There is a reason that the health field wear them themselves to work. Not to mention that I am not comfortable with wearing the chinese plastics anymore after the flip flop mess and all of the other products that are hurting us from there.

I have looked for the less expensive Crocs at both of our Wal-marts.
They don't have any for adults at this time. Going to check out K-Mart
tomorrow, as well as looking for the real thing in town. I'd like to
try them both and compare.

You can get crocks that aren't the real thing for $8 at Wal-Mart.
That's
where I got mine and I love them! They are the most comfy shoes I ever

Faye,
This might not be as easy since you do have to use a skillet to melt it, but I can make a grilled cheese for 2 points -- use Spray margerine, 1pt/2slice bread, and Bordens FF cheese slices (1 pt/2slices!). I love them!!

Claudia, good for you and very good for him with his health problems. My DH too is diabetic and has lost 2 jeans sizes since Feb and his is lookin hot! LOL... It helps when they support you doesn't it?
Stopping for an egg beaters omlet or eggs and wheat toast would be a terrific sub. Stop and smell the roses and move away from the drive throughs! I know that he tries to support you, but pulling into fast food isn't very helpful for either of you. Remind him that you want to be around longer to be with him because you love him.... can he say the same? I thank my DH all of the time for caring enough to take care of himself. I remind him that I don't want to be lifting him from a wheelchair or any of the other things that might happen from the diabetes if he doesn't. If he tries and it still happens that is one thing..
Hang tuff!

I'm glad it wasn't just me. I'd actually rather make my own, and I
have the little rings to cook the egg with. But my husband has been so
good about not eating places where he knows the food has too many
points for me, so I was trying to make an effort, too. If I say "I
don't want anything, but you go ahead and eat there," he will often
get upset and say "If you aren't eating there, then I'm not either!"
Actually, this is a good thing in some ways-he's overweight and
diabetic (along with his other disabilities) so it is helping him,
too.

Claudia,
I have found the Egg McMuffins to be yucky too. The egg often tastes
rubbery. I'd rather have the WW Smart Ones version.

You've already gotten some great advice. But what is missing in your post is how much water you are drinking and any of the other "healthies" checkoffs. If I don't drink my water I have at least a .2 gain. Then can come home, drink my water all day and get up and have lost almost 2# the next morning. Drink til you slosh! LOL... think APs running to the bathroom and doing squats when you get there! HA!!

Not having a very good day today! Went in for my weigh in and gained 0.2 lbs! Not sure how that happened! I've been eating all of my points and I still had 28 weekly points available. Does anyone eat before they weigh in? My meeting is at noon on Thursday and I don't eat anything before the weigh in. Some days I also save up points if I know we'll be eating out.
I really need to exercise more. Yesterday was the first day that I exercied since starting the program three weeks ago. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Thinking I might need to eat more filling foods and watch my carb intake.
Thanks for listening!
Marsha

Claudia, I love the giant fudge bars for 1pt! They are huge! But you are thinking along the right lines... try drinking a bottle of water before you go or carry one with you. Maybe some sugar free mints or lifesavers to suck on helps me out too. I can envision you sitting in the car eating that bar, lol..

Subject: [Serious-Weight-Watchers] Better choices and a question about avocados
I made a quick trip to the grocery store yesterday, at a time that I
shouldn't have. I was hungry and I had been craving chocolate for a
couple days.
I am proud to say I left with only the following things in my cart I
hadn't gone in for: Weight Watchers English Toffee Crunch ice cream
bars, Kashi Fruit & Grain Dark Chocolate Coconut (2 points) and Quaker
Chewy Oat Granola Bars Dark Chocolate Chunk (3 points, but a whopping
9 g of fiber in each bar! That is more than my fiber supplement I take
for diverticulosis!). Oh, and a couple fresh peaches and avocados that
aren't ripe yet. I sat in the parking lot and had an ice cream bar.
Wanting to make it last, I nibbled on it and enjoyed every little
bite, rather than downing it in three or four bites like I normally
would have.
Not only did it satisfy that chocolate hunger, I felt SOOOOO good
about myself for making better choices and then controlling how I ate
the ice cream.
I know I've got to be in this for the long haul, so have to change
everything about how I think about food.
Now, my question about avocados. Living in Oklahoma, usually the only
ones we could get were the small, ugly, almost brown avocados. I was
born and raised in Florida and used to the larger, smoother skin,
greener ones. The one I got yesterday was from Florida and was
actually marked with a sticker that said "Litecado, 30% less calories
and 50% less fat than California avocados." On my points tracker it
only lists avocado and doesn't make any type of difference between the
two. Anybody know where I could get a comparison so I can see if I can
count this as less points? Or, since it is bigger than the California
avocado just take the ¼ of the fruit serving as the correct points? I
can hardly wait for it to get ripe. For so long I heard "You shouldn't
eat avocados, they are so high in fat," then people found out it was
one of those healthy fats and now it's OK again. For awhile I used to
think of avocados as the forbidden fruit-not the apple-because of it's
high fat content.

13a. Back from what I percieve to be my last vacation this summer
Posted by: "Pippylngstkng" imonlyhumn@gmail.com pippylngstkg
Date: Wed Aug 5, 2009 5:23 pm ((PDT))
Hey all, back from the trip out west with youngest DD and 4 of the 6 grandkids. We had a ball! I am going to "testify" at the meeting tomorrow morning no matter the weigh in result (even though I am not afraid of it, teehee).. Last year I would never have been able to do what I did this year. I put a suit on and went into the hot tub the first nite and then climbed out and went down the water slide!! Twice!! It was such fun! I almost went upside down, lol... Then we went horseback riding. Honestly! I was no beauty climbing on, lol, granddaughter caught a pic of me. But dangit I got up on that horse and off I went for an hour long ride up in the Blackhills. I went to Rushmore and climbed all of the stairs goin in, booked down them to the amphitheater and then climbed over 130 stairs down and 230 back up! I did! I stopped once to get my breath from the altitude is all. Then we went back 2 nites later for the lighting ceremony and did most of the climb again! Not to mention all of the fun clamboring around in the mountains... climbing rocks for great pics.. okay, I'll stop now.. but it was such a wonderful trip for all 7 of us and I ate crème' brulee'! I'm smiling from what my scale says and looking forward to weigh in since 2 weeks ago. No matter what it says. I had a ball! And I am back totally OP!
Welcome to the newbies! We can do this thing dangit! Looking forward to celebrating with all of you.
Congrats to the Losers!!! Keep on rollin downward!
Hang in there to the gainers, next week is another opportunity to change your life! Let's do it!
I have over 790 emails so gonna pretty much mass delete the rest that I haven't responded to yet. I'm getting cross eyed, lol..
Hugs to all!
Deb

Deb,
wow, your trip sounds like a blast! Are your legs jelly-like yet?
LOL. That's so awesome that you had such a great time. I'd love to do
that with my kids when DS(now 4.5) is a little older. DD is 9 and
would enjoy it now, but maybe in a few years!
Good luck at WI. You should do very well.
