I have been lactose intolerant for about 14 years; since I turned 30. I don't really drink milk except now that I make protein smoothies to help with energy for my morning workouts. I have been using Lactaid milk and just started using SmartBalance latose-free milk. Yogurt and cottage cheese are fine with me.
The protein powder I use also helps with lactose intolerance Unjury. www.unjury.com
It is somewhat pricey but very high quality protein; 20g per serving and the unflavored can be mixed into anything. Especially great for those whom have just had surgery and trying to get in enough protein each day.

Hi,
As I sit here on my hosp bed feeling defeatd I am trying to find strength. I had my durg on the 17 of Aug
No complicatons then, it was done with the scope. However 12 day later I started to fill ill, lots of pain
Weather it was fluids or pured stuff I ate. I finally got the caourage to call the surgeon and asked me to
Go to the ER needless to say after the scan I was told I needed surg right then and there. It was like my world
Was crumbling around me. Layinf here is so hard, still can't tolarate food, experiecing lot of pain.
Having a strctue and obstruction and looking at my 9 inch incision is not easy! Has anyone else
Had complications???
Sincerely,
Mari

I also had complications. I was in recovery after my surgery and had to be rushed back in to surgery. I was bleeding out internally and had lost 3 pints of blood before they realized it. I was in ICU for several days and in a regular room for 3 days. I also had had a stricture that the doctor had to dilate on August 6th. I know how you are feeling! Hang in there because it DOES get better. Just take it one day at a time and you will be feeling better before you know it!!

I've not had complications, but am writing to send you good vibes and prayers for your speedy recovery. Please find comfort that you did get help. You will heal and soon forget your pain. Where there is life, there is hope.

I have lactose intolerance since surgery, too (10 years ago). it has eased up a bunch, but i can't eat ice cream or tolerate more than a 1/4 cup of milk or yogurt at a time. Cheese is ok, tho.
