I had gbs rny 4 months ago and went from 233 to 165 very happy about that however, I'm struggling with stomach cramps after some meals. The only way I could feel better was to make myself throw up. I know that is not the answer, so I have started really slowing down, watching and recording what I eat to try to find a pattern. I do not over eat, but it may be the type of food that is making me cramp. Let me know if you figure it out and keep a food diary. Sara

Subject: [After Weight Loss Surgery] Stomach pains after surgery
I had gastral bypass surgery 5 months ago now and have lost over 125lbs. I weigh at 160lbs now and weighed 285lbs the day of my surgery. I have been experiencing stomach cramps so often that it is very uncomfortable for me at times. Has anyone else experience this and can give me some advice? My physician prescribed me some medicine along with previcet, but it is over $380 and I can not afford it.. I go back to the doctor tomorrow morning and hope they can give me something else... Does anyone have any advice for me tonight? I would appreciate it...

Hello Friends,
It's good to see this support group "come to life" again. It's been so quiet. I had my 6 month follow-up visit at NY Presbyterian Hospital on 9/10/2009 and my actual 6 months will be in 2 days. I am just amazed how much I've lost (72 lbs) and the changes in my life. My Mom tells me how impressed she is by my dedication. I walk at least 30 minutes 6 & sometimes 7 days. I eat 4 small meals per day & 2 snacks. I track ALL of my food, focusing on the protein however our group dietician suggested I also watch the calories.
I had a different type of WLS then most of you. It's called TOGA & I'm part of a clinical trial. I'm very grateful (& blessed) to be selected for this clinical trial as I always said I'd never have WLS b/c I didn't want to have surgery. The surgeon created my pouch using a new device (TOGA) and going down my esophagus.
I'd love to hear how everyone else is doing.
re: Fear of WLS - I agree with those who suggested prayer and research. I've been obese for most of my life. When I had WLS, I weighed 260 lbs and I'm 5'4". WLS was the best thing that ever happened to me! I now weigh 188 and I haven't been in "ONEderland" in many years.
