WHHO HOO! Congratulations! I heard wait 12-18 mo but you did that
already. I hope to meet someone and have a baby but time is running out! I
am 36 going on 37. I don't have any advice other than make sure your team

I had gastric segmentation (like the lap band but not adjustable) in 2000. I got pregnant in 2006. I was very careful with the portions tha I ate and made sure that I was taking all my vitamins and supplements. I explained my situation to the obgyn and they monitored my nutrition and weight. I had no problems. I think I was actualy heathier during the pregnanct because I felt it was my responsibility to do good for the baby. When I had a craving, I would eat it (very small portions). I gained about 30 lbs. I lost most of the weight without changing anything. The last bit I weight I have now decided that I want to excerise and get off (along with a little extra that I put on over the years.
When I had wls I was 310, I lost to 145. When I got pregnant, I was 178. At delivery, I was about 207. I am 175 now. I want to get to 150-155.
If you have any questions, let me know.
AlLee

Hello everyone.
I had a quick question.  Well, maybe not so quick.
Has anyone become pregnant after their gastric bypass?  We just found out that I am 9 weeks and 1 day preggers.
YEAH!  I was 319 day of surgery on 11/18/08.  I am currently 180 and soooooo happy.
Just wondering if anyone has been thru it and can give me any pointers.
Thanks, Tiffany

Hi everyone! I am a newbie to this group so this is my first post.

I had my gastric bypass on Aug 21, 2008. I started out at 360 lbs and to date I have lost 130 lbs which still leaves me at 230 lbs. I am 5'7" so this still leaves me in the obese category. My weightloss stopped about 6 months ago and it seems no matter what I do I just can't shift any more weight. I would really like to lose another 50 lbs at least but feel like it is not going to happen and I am getting a bit down about it. I would appreciate any suggestions anyone has.

Thanks
Heather

Everyone I have ever known that's had WLS has gone through the same exact thing....it's normal to stall for anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.  And besides, you've lost 130 lbs!!!!  That's AMAZING!  Keep focused on *that*, because you've done remarkably well.

I started out at 303.4 and currently weigh 137.  The last 50 lbs took a lot longer to come off than the first 100, but it WILL happen.  Your body is probably in "adjustment" mode - getting used to it's new weight, new metabolism, new everything.

Also, I haven't personally tried this, but a lot of WLS post-ops swear by the "The 5 day pouch test" to kick-start their weight loss back into gear.  May be worth looking into?

What you're going through is normal and the scale WILL move again.  Congrats on all your success so far!
