Perhaps it's the nature or structure of your question that is eluding replies. Not sure what you mean by a 'program'.

I had no pre or post op 'weight loss program'. Some have had pre-op weight loss enforced, perhaps a liquid or other diet, tho., in order to qualify for surgery.

After a couple of pre-op sessions with a nutritionist, i was on my own to figure out what to eat post-op. If there were 'programs' in place, we might not need this forum.

I never really had a program per se before I had GBS. I was on a low
carbohydrate high protein diet to get things started and then after surgery
I started with liquids and worked my way back up to solid foods learning
quickly which ones were good to eat and which ones were not.

3a. Explaination Of Why I Need Participants To Repond

The "program" I was in before and after RNY gastric bypass., included that each surgery patient ( RNY, lapband, powdered weight reduction diet) specified that we had a 2 hour seminar about what the surgeries were (pro & cons), 2 meetings with the programs nutritionist (a booklet with & what not should be consumed at different stages.) Pre-op tests, as I specified before, a meeting with a psychologist, and test to see if each candidate passed "the head test." Yes, and of course IF the insurance would pay for the procedure, or sign your life away trying to live longer.

The program I was involved in included an "Angel." This angel was to be an older surgery patient to help out the newbies. Another lady and I were not given (LOL) the Angel as promised and we had to rely on each other for problems: food consumption, vomiting, diarrhea, not sick, but queasiness, weird side effects like: nose running prior to being sick or having a bowel movement. My angel and I spoke most every day ( different towns) pre & post surgery. My angel got out in 2 days, I went home in 6 days. She has been sicker than me, having lost 170 pounds, and had 3 admissions SINCE our surgery in August due to vomiting (the most) and numbness below the breasts to her knees, (neurologist baffled.) Now, she has been home a week, (4 weeks since her last admission) and has had diarrhea the last three days. If it isn't one thing, it is another. This last visit they repaired her hiatal hernia. Why didn't they find it before now?

As of this post, my angel has had an onset of diarrhea for 3 days now.
Now, I am sorry for the rambling and I hope this post sheds some light on what I needed from the other Yahoo members and perhaps answer any questions, as I know everyone has different stories to tell. The program we had our surgery through is credited through a "center of excellence." Frankly, we both felt like we were herded like cows through a packing plant. The surgeons visits were short, just sticking their heads in the door and smiling as they waved through the door to the next cow. I could go on, but I reckon that you might better understand the post now. We ( my angel & I) just want to improve the weight loss program in our area. Surely there are others willing to contribute. Thank you!

I have been post op for about 2 1/2 years I had the lap band surgery and to tell you the truth at first and I still have some doubts but that's my problem, that this thing really works. I do realize now, It is just a tool something to help with my weight loss issue's I did not want a quick fix nor' did i want something to make me instantly skinny i needed help but the right kind of help and that is just what I got... You talk about an Angel funny but I have a real angel I talk to him everyday he follows me around and he gives me advice about what I should and should not eat. i know, I know it sounds funny but its true since the day of my surgery this Angel has been with me and to tell you the truth i rarely listen to him but he does sometimes talk loud enough for me to really hear him in the natural lol, sometimes that's what it takes for me to listen but I'm starting to listen to him more and more. I don't know if I'm waring him out and he just
deciding to really take this whole weigh loss stuff serious or he is taking his Heavenly Job more serious and my life really means something then just a fat Cow trying to be a skinny but to tell you truth he is really starting to grow on me and we are actually getting somewhere this new life experience the transition it self is not easy but it is not the out come but the Journey that makes it so much more interesting.....

Thanks for listening your fellow weight loss Sister in the Christ Jesus
Josie

Thank you for your input Josie and I am glad you have a great relationship with your angel. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
