I had surgery in 2000. I had a band procedure that is not like the current lap band. My band was not adjustable. I started at 301 and at my smallest I was 145 (I am 5'7"). I had a child in 2007 and maintained my weight at 190.
I had many health issues relating to reflux and many hospital stays. Finally, my doctors recommended a revision of my surgery. I now have an RYN. I had the procedure 8 wks ago. I have lost 15lbs. It is a very slow process this time, but I feel better. I have different issues to deal with, but I will make it work.
My goal now is to get to 150 and see from there if I want to get smaller. My ideal weight is 137.
If you have any other questions, I would be glad to answer them.

Hi AiLee
Wow, that is awesome getting down to 145lbs. Im sorry you experienced many complications, but glad to hear the doctors were able to help you with a solution. I started at 324 and am now 180, my goal is 164 being at 5'8. My question to you is did you have any complications during your pregnancy and/or have any problems conceiving? Right now we are trying to conceive and Im worried that I might not be able to have kids. I had my surgery in 2005. Please share your experience and anyone else who can share, please do.
Thanks All

I had no problems conceiving. I never have. Basically, I stop birth control and I am pregnant. I am very lucky that way.
During my pregnancy, I had an issue with my reflux and it caused pneumonia and I was hospitalized. This was due to the issue with the band. My son was completely healthy. Thank goodness!!!! I had no issues with nutrition or other things that you would think might come with bariatric surgeries. It was a normal pregnancy except for the issue with the pneumonia caused by reflux. I had a very severe case which caused the revision. My complications were not from the pregnancy.
Now that we have this issue resolved, my husband has mentioned having another child. I am supposed to wait 2 yrs from this surgery before I try again. Not sure if we will or not. I would be 40 and have kids that would be 19, 17 and 6. Not exactly sure I want to start over, but it is a possibility.
I wish you lots of luck on conceiving. Will this be your first child?
AlLee

Hi all,
I had surgery in 2008 and lost 70 pounds. I have stopped losing weight about a year ago the lowest I got to was 250. The crazy thing is that fortunately I never had any complications (I.e dumping syndrome vomiting nothing at all). I could eat just about anything except some yogurts and I stay clear of ice-cream ( too sweet). I plateau'd at 250. I don't know what to do to lose more weight. I'm exercising more and more now. I'm so jealous. every1 I know has gotten down in the 1's and that's where I want to b. Any ideas on what to do?
Thanks. Any advice would b soooo helpful.

Although I lost 130 lbs I got down to about
230 lbs and then the weightless stopped.
I was going to the gym then a personal trainer
And swimming but nothing was helping.
I also had my op in 2008 but now find that
I am so discouraged that my eating habits
Have gone back to all of the bad things and
I have started to put weight on again :(

Had the same problem. Went to the MD. My thyroid was out of whack. Once I started Synthroid the weight came off
Also go back to the trainer and focus on weightlifting
