Right now I'm dodging a bullet..My surgery was Dec 2010. I made it to 154 from 208. A few pounds found there way back, I am 157.5 right now. I know its emotional eating for me. ex. I enjoy the time at night when everyone goes to bed and I'm not in demand. Around 10PM I settle in the lounger and read my kindle. I started brewing a cup of coffee in my Keurig, adding my favorite creamer...every night. as a treat/ I gave up soda for flavored vita-water.
I am a carbo snacker....crackers or pretzils
I really need to focus and not blindly grazing.. HUGS to all of you

Hello all I'm so glad were back up and running. I gave up soda before my surgery and never get the taste for it. The one thing I remember is them explaining to me what soda does to a normal stomach and it makes me remember that it will really mess up my pouch. I have lately faced a big challenge it started 2 yrs ago my sugar drops every blue moon and out of no where the first time it happened I didn't know what was going on and I'm a nurse(lol) I was talking and my words started slurring and I was shaking and sweating so bad my hair was dripping all this in less than five minutes. Another nurse gave me orange juice but because I can no longer gulp it didn't help. She ended up feeding me 2 cookies that worked rite away. Because it has happened at odd times and hour I have started snacking on cookies or candy and now I've gained some weight back. Which is very upsetting. All my labs have been done and nothing was found I take my blood sugar when I can catch it before the shakes start to see how low it is and it only like 75/80 which according to the ADA isn't low but for me it is. If anyone out there in our group who has faced this and found a solution please help me my doctor can't and no I was never a diabetic before my weight lose. I'm 7 yrs post RNGY

My soda habit is creeping back on me slowly but surely. I went from only being able to intake a sip or two a day, to now I'm up a 12oz can a day. Any pointers, I'm all ears.

I'm not sure if I can help or not. I'm 3 yrs RNY. My husband is a type 2 diabetic. For him he always makes sure to have protein with his carb and takes whey protein shakes like I do. Apples also help him to stay balanced.

Please do not feel as if you are alone. I am just a year out from RNY and noticed the same thing happening to me which started about 3 months post op. I too have not found the "solution" as to why this is happening and I also was not diabetic prior to surgery. I have been to my family MD about it, labs were done and A1-C and blood sugars are still normal. His solution was to "eat more frequently". HA! Well, in doing so, I have already begun to gain weight back and I'm extremely bummed about it. I will say that my lows happen mainly in relation to my menstrual cycle. I started tracking and notice especially the couple days prior to until near the end of my cycle, I will get lows. My "lows" also are not very low, mainly ranging in the 70's-80's although I have had some 60's and once had a 39 but for the most part they are "normal" in accordance with ADA guidelines. I too feel mine and sometimes can even feel the lows once my blood sugar
starts dropping below 100.
Sorry, I can't be of help really but wanted to let you know you are not alone!
