My rny is scheduled for Aug 11, just three days now. I am a little concerned since my last meeting with surgeon. He said that if he can't lift the liver out of the way he can't do the surgery. Has anyone else ever been told that and how did it work out? Has anyone ever gone in for the surgery and the surgeon couldn't do it? Otherwise am ready and looking forward to doing this.

I think that is a standard comment all surgeons make. I was told something
similar when I had my op. I have not heard of that happening. I am sure it has
happened to someone but I do not think it is common at all. Good luck with your
op!!

Hello,
My surgeon warned about the need to shrink the size of my liver before surgery. He told me I HAD to lose 10 pounds in about 2 weeks before surgery. The loss of weight before the surgery helps to shrink the liver. I lost 14 pounds in the alotted time and everything went fine. If the liver is too large it is nearly impossible to do the rny laproscopically. Good lunck and don't worry.

Gina,
This has been a wild ride to the 174 pound loss. Immediately after surgery I got off all the perscription meds that had helped blow me up to 424 pounds. With close medical supervision of course. I followed the guide lines layed out to the letter. The only thing I did different than advised is resumed being a wife to my hubby. I did have some unexpected things occur in the beginning. First my thyroid "went crazy" so I had a double wammy in beginning weight loss. Then in December I began not tolerating any food or water. Seems I had a hiatial hernia that had grown enormous and cut off my food consumption. I had repair surgery after some time and am now doing great..
I am doing my best to eat healthy, small amounts and stay hydrated. Also I try to keep moving with exercising. Most of all I listen to my body. If I am tired I rest, if feeling good I press on,. It is very important to keep up the vitamins and calcium.
I am not a normal case but I do thank the Lord for my success.
Hope something I said will help you Gina.

Hi,
174 lbs???? That's awesome! I am just at my 1 yr, I've only lost 120. Please share with me how you're doing it! I feel like I'm so far behind everyone and have so far to go! I would appreciate your help and any suggestions you can offer! :)
Thanks,
Gena
