Stu, what is keeping you from doing the surgery?  Please consider that your self-esteem is only affected by your weight if you let it.  And believe me, I know the panic you feel at gaining weight that you worked so hard to lose.  Please keep your chin up and find a d@mn good doctor.  You are worth the work to feel better and get off the pain killers.  Also, they have come a long way with fusion surgery.  Recovery is quick and not as scary as you might imagine.  You deserve a full life!
I will say a prayer for you.

Tina

Have you told this to your dr?  You need to make sure they understand what you are going through, and if they don't...find one that will!  It's hard not to gain weight when you can't do anything.  Your usual diet isn't going to work without the exercise.  You have to be able to find some relief...talk to your doctor is the best start.

Stu,
Don't give up  you have done so well.  you need to get back to you excerciseing. Walk  aroun the neighborhood  or at the mall inside.
Check and see if you can find a homeapathic doctor to give you some ideas of things to take.  Also Try reading some books on Reiki it will help you get your mind  more centered.
Hope this helps.

My name is Stu. I am from Indiana. I had a RNY 3 years ago. I have lost over 250 lbs.
I am very strict with my diet and exercise plan.
I was at my goal weight until Feb 2012 when I started having back EXTREME back pain.
I went to a spine surgeon and he said I need a spine fusion
I have tried to manage my pain with Percocet and spinal injections.
Here is where I need help.
Since Feb I have went from a size 34 pant to a size 42.
I have gained almost 50 lbs.
I have not changed my diet at all.
I really need help. I am depressed. I am 37 yrs old and I am scared I am on the road to being 500 lbs again. I look in the mirror and see a big fat guy again.
Does anyone know what I can do or if Percocet or the spinal blocks are causing me to have a massive weight gain.
My self esteem is gone.
Please help.
Stu

Hi Gypzymoon
You have basically took the words right out of mouth literally. I had RNY Surgery in 05 and weighted 324lbs at the time. The lowest I've gotten down to was 170 and now have climbed back up to 200lbs. My size 14 clothes re starting not to fit now and I'm out of breathe when I run now. Ugh!
I keep talking about going bak to my protein shakes, but keep putting it off cause something else sounds more appetizing.

So, I'm all ears too.

Hello Deb! Welcome back! I don't check here as often as I should, my apologies for the slow response, just read your note this morning.

Sorry to hear you gained back weight, but I hear ya. I go up and down with the same 20 lbs, it can be a struggle. I know what it is for me so I've cut out alcohol and 'white food' (sugar, bread, potatoes, rice, pasta). Also, I'm addicted to Mentos gum, which is ultra-sweet to handle my sweets cravings. I wish you strength and luck in 'the good fight'. Have you considered checking in with the surgeon about your weight gain? Has it been 11 years? Time really flies.

I moved to Florida in 2009, when I divorced Kev. I remarried in 2010 (Rod), and we're doing well, both working. One of my twins is living with us since Sept. 2011, he graduated college and is working here, but not at a career job. Please drop me a line at afterwls@aol.com.

Best,
Vic
