Good morning all:
I will be moving to Mo. (Rolla) the end of March. This is a small
town with a hospital that leaves a lot to be desired, so, I need to find a
good hospital with services. (This hospital doesn't have a GI let along
weight management). Does anyone else live in Mo and can you recommend a
program to me?? Rolla is about 1 hour form Saint Louis and 1.5 hours from
Springfield. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank You in advance.
Judy
Praise God for the roses. Thank God for the thorns.

Judy,
I used to live in MO and had my surgery at the Univ of Mo hospital in Columbia. They have an excellent WL surgeon and program there. It's been 5 yrs so I don't remember his name, but my DH is looking it up. I have never had one problem. He also has a program out of St Louis. He's done thousands of surgeries. I feel fine, did all I was told and they were always concerned if I was ok. They also run a follow-up support group there. My husband says Rolla is a couple of hours away from Columbia but worth it. I wish I still lived there. I loved it there so much. So you could also find him in St Louis, no doubt. His partner's name was Roger De La Torre. My husband says the one who did my surgery is not in Columbia, but with this info you could find out. The whole program is good and they are really based in St Louis too.
Good luck!
Sheila

I am the wife of a doc but I say, malpractice. No good doctor ever dismisses pain first of all and irregular test results secondly but not at all least of all. I wish you lots of luck and better health.
Hugs,
sheila

Subject: [After Weight Loss Surgery] Saw the Oncologist

Hi!

So I went to the oncologist yesterday and he did some stat blood work. The good news: I do NOT have lymphoma. The bad news: I most likely have a splenic vein thrombosis (a clot in the vein for my spleen) caused by injury during the GBP surgery in Jan. We are waiting for more (slower) labs and some CT scan results to come back and maybe more scans to come. The clot (if that is the problem) may clear on its own, but if the pain is persistent I may have to have a splenectomy.

I am SOOOOOO ANGRY at the surgeon who did my WLS. Not so much because of the injury during surgery (which I understand can happen) but rather that he has been dismissive about the enlarged spleen, my pain, and (perhaps unrelated) inability to eat. I am trying very hard to just focus on what I need to do to take care of myself and my boys but as G-d as my witness, I am ANGRY!
