I had WLS 3 months ago and have lost 90 pounds so far. I am numb from the breast to the knees. Can anyone give me a hint as to what is wrong? Do I need to go back to the surgeon?

It started about two weeks ago and it is growing ( space covered). I am concerned. I am thrilled about my wt loss, I otherwise feel better every day.

Josie - could you go for a gastic? Could your surgeon just remove your band?
So sorry to hear of your discomfort. I hope things resolve for you soon.

Ive been starting to drop the weigh slowly but this is painful... I have stopped eating bread and have chose to start eating gluten free stuff,,, its hard but not impossible.. .. any suggestion would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Well not me personally but I know that they usually cover the stomach only because the skin underneath has a tendency to get kinda stinky and sores will develop if not keep clean at all times.. of course the Doc has to send the pics in to the insurance company but that is what I've heard you may want to call your insurance company and find out everything.......

Subject: [After Weight Loss Surgery] Removing Excess Skin
Hi,
I had gastric bypass surgery almost eight months ago and am doing great. I have lost 110 pounds and am feeling better than I have ever felt before. I met with a plastic surgeon yesterday to begin formulating a plan to remove the excess skin, as there is a lot. I wanted to give myself plenty of time to save up for what I knew would be an expensive surgery(s). Much to my surprise the surgeon said that it is extremely rare for insurance to cover any part of the surgery aside from breast reduction, if I can qualify for it. So, I am wondering if any of you have had the surgery and, if so, were you able to get it covered by insurance.
Thank you!
Aime

You'll have to let us know if you get approved. The surgeon I saw yesterday said it's very difficult to get it covered. I have BCBS also, and they were very lenient with the bypass surgery. I met the criteria, so didn't have a weight loss requirement or waiting period at all. So it will be interesting to see. The surgeon said that the insurance company will want proof that there is a skin condition or that the excess skin makes it difficult to walk or exercise. He said they would want copies of bills and documentation from a dermatologist or physical therapist. Then they will look at the cost of the surgery versus the cost of treating the condition going forward. If the cost of the surgery is greater than the other costs it will be declined. It's all very interesting!
Thanks and best of luck,
Aime
