I really felt so good about myself yesterday. My best friend Cindy was
over, having just got back from vacation. We kept her dog for her. She
lives about 40 miles away, so she's not too far away, but far enough
away I don't get to see her as often as I'd like. Food has always
played a big role in our visiting, and last night was no exception.
After moderate points for breakfast and lunch, we talked about going
out to the new steak house here in town, but I decided I'd rather have
my husband grill some steaks at home, as I had fresh green beans and
corn on the cob from the farmers' market I needed to use. So I went
and got some steaks and baking potatoes. Used to be I would eat an
entire rib eye myself (these are thick, good sized rib eyes). My
husband likes T-bones, so I got one for him and a package of two rib
eyes for my daughter, Cindy and I.
Instead of the entire rib eye, I only ate about a third. My scales
showed that was still nine points! I used to consume almost a day's
points in one piece of meat!! Suddenly my excuse that I didn't over
eat (I have never been a constant snacker, or dessert eater) didn't
sound so true any longer. I had the backed potato and corn with the
Land of Lakes Light butter, green beans (extra point there for the
bacon I cooked it in, even though I didn't eat the bacon). We ended
the meal with a WW ice cream for a total of 20 points (I get 35 right
now). It was so satisfying, and yet I still felt in control.
I was telling a friend this morning that I couldn't believe the change
in how I feel with just 24 pounds gone. I can't imagine how good I
will feel when I get down to a normal weight.

Simply Filling is the new name for the old Core Program with a few
tweaks. If you count points but eat FILLING FOODS, you are still
counting points, the other way of doing Momentum. Under Simply
Filling, you ONLY count points for foods not on the Filling Foods list
or if you don't follow the 'once a day' rules. I switch back and forth
between both methods, although I lose better on SF, it's more expensive
and I just can't afford it all the time.

Babette:
Sorry for the emty reply. On Simply Filling, you have to eat off the
Filling Foods list in order to not count points, so it must be Fat
Free(more expensive), extra lean ground beef($$$), Whole Wheat($$$) and
cannot be prepared meals at all. While that's ok if it was JUST me, I
cannot afford to buy those things for 5 people(I've been off work for
all summer although I'm going back next week) and my family won't eat
most of them anyway. For instance, when stores have cheese 2/$5(good
deal), they NEVER include Fat Free! Or bread, the 0 point or low point
bread is NEVER included. We go through TONS of cheese and bread, but
having to buy fat free adds up. Same thing with salad dressings,
although I buy them because they are lower in points anyway. You eat
more produce, which is very expensive in our area right now. My garden
has come up some, but not enough to sustain 2 weeks worth of veggies.
I know it probably sounds lame, but with me not having a paycheck until
the end of the month at the earliest, money is just too tight right
now. This way, with counting points, I can eat what the family is
eating, just in smaller portions. I do tend to eat off the Filling
Foods list when we have it, but I don't go out of my way to buy the
more expensive stuff.

4a. Deb's Thursday weigh in

What a fun time at the meeting this morning. A good crowd, several new members, well old members back and some new and some from another meeting time. Some of them are really funny, and looks like we are going to have more participants with them. Such fun! Our leader told them that they would find our meeting a "lil different" than their other meetings, lol... boy are we!
I had a hectic time getting out of the house this morning in time to stop by Starbucks for my Thursday morning skinny Carmel, hazelnut latte before my meeting. I went off and forgot my tracker with my monthly card in it with my member number in it. I can't remember my phone number, let alone that too hehhe.... so got some grief for that. I never wear my jewelry when I weigh and I always wear the same one of two pair of capris and shirts that are nylon and very light weight so it's almost like weighing nakie. When our leader weighed me I had lost -1.6! Kewl!! Then I realized that I was maybe going to get a star today!! She said no....... I'm .2 away... .2! So all the girls (members) encouraged me to re-weigh taking off my glasses, my necklace...one wanted me to take off my shirt! I said that I would weigh in with just my undies if they all would turn the other way..lol. So I did re-weigh..but on a different scale and no change. The assistant wanted me to do it again after the meeting and go to the bathroom. I decided that I would wait and celebrate next time. I will be gone for next week's meeting as I am going up north for my Granddaughter's birthday and won't be around. So 2 weeks from now I hope to get another star, or maybe 2!
Have a Golden Day all, I am!

Great job! I had to laugh about the wanting you to take everything
off. I sometimes swear we gain weight by osmosis on a humid day-our
body just absorbs fluid out of the air!! But like you said, next time.
Keep up the great work, and enjoy your granddaughter's birthday!

weigh in with just my undies if they all would turn the other
way..lol. So I did re-weigh..but on a different scale and no change.
The assistant wanted me to do it again after the meeting and go to the
bathroom. I decided that I would wait and celebrate next time. I will
be gone for next week's meeting as I am going up north for my
Granddaughter's birthday and won't be around. So 2 weeks from now I
hope to get another star, or maybe 2!
Have a Golden Day all, I am!

Hey Ladies,
Yesterday I did something very stupid ... I ran into a metal chair and
severely bruised/twisted my last two toes on my left foot. The whole area
on top of the foot is also black and blue. Now, this isn't what I'm bummed
out about - I know this will heal. However, because of this stupid injury I
can't go to Curves, Walk, or even go swimming (no way I can make the walk
from the locker room to the pool)! I was supposed to attend my first Zumba
class last night and of course, that went out the window. Mike, (DH) thinks
it's going to take at least a week to heal to the point I can put real
pressure on it. I'm walking with a cane right now!!
So, I was really bummed and pissed off about it all last night. Then I
thought of something! I've got a bunch of exercise DVD's at home. So I
thought, I could sit in a chair and at least do all the upper body movements
and even lift my legs! Then I thought, I can use soup cans for hand
weights! Yay!! I'm going to be able to exercise after all! I was really
freaking out that I wouldn't be able to do any sort of exercise for a week!!
Hugs,
Babette

Just a thought that occured to me - it is possible from your description that you might be experiencing pain from the sciatic nerve. Do a google search and see if it matches what you're feeling.
When I had it, it was only a very sharp, deep pain right on the point of the butt, going down about halfway to the knee, so I might describe what I felt exactly like you did - hamstring and butt injury. Icing and rest did nothing for it, but there were certainly some days and some activities when I was pain free - and then some that were painful.

Oh my! That does sound where the pain is...I will google it. My sister suggested I go for a massage that can be done in that area but my husband says I need to see a dr. since this has been going on for 2-3 weeks now. How frustrating...I am so excited with this First Strides program and now I am hurt (down but not out!)...thanks for the info. I am going to look into this now. Heidi

Hi LM ... welcome to the group! Breakfast? I always like to have a piece
of fruit with whatever else I'm having ... the extra fiber really keeps you
full longer, IMO. Typically, I'm not a big breakfast person ... so I tend
to stick with toasts, coffee, maybe a piece of ham (lean) for protein.
Hugs,

It looks like to take action w/ Google Blogger, you need to follow specific protocol. Here's a link to the page I found: http://www.google.com/blogger_dmca.html
Also, as a blogger, I know that I can set my blog up so that I can send an email post to it. So, somewhere in our members is an email that has "weight-loss-l" in the name.
Hope that helps us find these people in some way. Is nothing sacred? lol

Then again, if these people are taking the time to blog, they're going to take the time to fill out a questionnaire. And one of the blogs seems to update automatically. My post was up immediately on a blog after I posted here --so they have some kind of software or something.
