Tory,
You are so smart. . .so wise. I needed what you wrote here.
I must confess that I jumped over board for about a week and a half (and yesterday's WI proved it with a 5 pound gain!) But I climbed back on board and have been on program since Sunday and done really well again. Actually, I jogged 3 miles without walking for the first time on Wednesday and then again yesterday!! -- Thanks to your inspiring example!
Anyway, I feel exactly like you describe here. I'm not always "feeling motivated" to work out or eat right, but doing so is HOW I get what I WANT. And the harvest is worth the work.
I'm still not at goal weight -- I had been just 2 pounds away until I chose to be stupid--so now I am 7 pounds away. But I feel so happy to be living in a strong and healthy body. The ability of my body to recover from the abuse I had done to it, is a gift from God. I never want to abuse that gift again. I am determined to treasure it as precious and care for it as this "fearfully and wonderfully made" creation (the human body) deserves. It is another way I can give my Creator a small measure of the respect and gratitude He deserves.
Thanks again Tory for sharing your insights and your example with us. You have really been a wonderful teechur for me in this journey.

Love it Cindy!
I wish everyone would read that:
"But I feel so happy to be living in a strong and healthy body. The ability
of my body to recover from the abuse I had done to it, is a gift from God."
That is wonderful. Amen! I feel the SAME WAY! I have often wished there was
a way I could give every obese person who is feeling unhealthy one day in my
body. Not that I don't wake with some middle-aged aches and pains. But they
go away and I want to get out and DO STUFF. I want to ride my bike. I WANT
to run. I want to see if I can sprint to the end of the block. I consider
walking before driving quite often. It is because I am healthy and fit that
I feel this way.
Completely different from the Old Tory, who would rather drive down the
block than walk.

Chris~~
Congrats on your loss. I started in Sept, and just last night I hit my 50 lbs. I still have a long way to go also.
Everyone is different when it comes to losing. What works for me, may not work for you. To help keep me motivated I read the blog "theantijared.blogspot.com".
He is very honest, and to the point. Here is a man, just over a year ago weighed 420 lbs, and he has lost 200 (+/-) lbs. He is amazing. His words help keep me honest and motivated.
Also reading the posts from this support group keeps me motiviated. They remind me I am not alone, they remind me I am human.
If I chose to eat off plan, that is my choice, I need to own it, I need to take responsibility, and I do, I log it, count my points and move on.
Sometimes it is not easy, but it makes me think 2 or 3 times before I chose to eat off plan the next time.
I try to think like NIKE, and "Just do it!"
Best of luck,
Tina - Calif

Hi all,
I had joined WW on 2/14. Since then I have lost 51 pounds. I am thrilled to finally be under the 300 pound mark and feeling better.
As the weeks went along I started to pick and nibble. This past week I have just been bad.
I got weighed in Tuesday night and was up .6 pounds. Today all I did was eat eat eat. We had a luncheon at school for our teachers. I ate before during and after the lunch. I brought leftover deserts home and ate them.
I don't know why but I know I feel bad. Physically and emotionally I feel bad.
It seems like the past week I have been sabotaging myself.
Does anyone else ever feel like that? How do you get out of this funk? I have along way to go and can't defeat myself now.
Thanks!
Chris

We all can relate...but honey, take a look at what you did with a rational
mind.
When you mess up in other areas of your life, do you keep going? If you hit
your thumb with a hammer, do you say "Well I screwed that up!" and start
hammering your other fingers?
If you hit your head on the cupboard door, do you say "Well that was bad! I
think I'll hit it some more!"
If you ding your car door against a pilon, do you grab your keys and start
keying the paint job?
Of course not! Because none of those reactions make any sense! Yet why do we
say, "I screwed up, so I'm going to really do it right..." and dive into a
plate of brownies?
So if you could do the day over, what would you do?

I love reading what Tory wrote too. We need to remember that we will have slips in our behavior. What's important to know that we have what it takes to get back on plan maybe the next few days won't be PERFECT but each day will get better. I love the analogies that Tory gave and will keep them in mind for future use.

Hi Chris-
I so get what ypu are talking about!
I was down 3.6 this week to a total weight loss of 27 lbs. since January 1st. But, that follows 7 weeks of desserts, pizza and who knows what.
I just kept going to my meetings, kept weighing in even though I knew I would see a gain every week. My motivation had waned, but my desire had not. So, I did the only things I felt like I could do and told myself I would get back on the horse as soon as I could.
So, now I have been back OP for about 10 days and I can see the reults.
I have to tell you that writing this has really helped me - I have PMS to the nth degree today and reaching out to someone else who is struglling is incredibly helpful Thanks for you post!

Thanks for that link! I love what he has to say, even if he is a little into
himself. (Of course it's hard to really get how much via writing, so it may
just come out that way. I think my posts sound like I'm really into myself
too, and I'm not.)
He is extremely realistic. He is also very honest. I like that.

Another great weigh in. Another 3.6 lbs GONE for a total of 24 lbs!
Between my two friends and myself, we have lost over 50 lbs!
Now to keep my motivation up to move. I am sick with something I caught
from my 4 year old daughter. Not fun trying to exercise when you aren't
feeling well!

Happy Friday all~~
I began my weight watchers journey in early Sept. Last night I hit my 50 lbs gone!
I am sorry I haven't been more active on the boards, but I usually have computer access at work. I do read the posts daily, and I applaud all the successes and share in the daily frustrations we all have.
As exciting as the 50 lbs is to lose, I am trying so hard NOT to think about how far I have yet to go. I am not worried about going off plan I am determined, I am worth it. This time, it is for life, I am not getting any younger, and I still have my good health.
One of my biggest struggles, is exercise. I need to make time, and schedule it in....alas, I procrastinate.
Thank you all for being there,
Tina - Calif

Congratulations on your wt-loss. Have you asked yourself why you haven't scheduled exercise into your life. I love my "Y"and being with my friends but my husband likes to walk the steps at work 5 times a day. Sometimes it is just adding a 10 minute walk. I was always the fat girl who didn't get picked on school teams so I grew up HATING exercise. I didn't start exersising for years after I lost 50 lbs. I only wish I would have started sooner.

Hi Carol
I understand about hating exercise. We had to take physical education in grade 9. That was the worst time of my life. I only recall one day that was great. We had to take electives or blocks in gym. One of them I chose was soccer. The first time we played a game I was the last one chosen as usual. I played defense. A girl came running towards me with the ball. I ran towards her and kicked out...oops...I missed the ball and kicked her leg full force! The rest of the girls were so afraid of me the next day I was picked first. The one and only time that happened.
I have been going to the gym at work since January. My first day I spent 30 minutes there. 15 min on the bike, and 15 min on the treadmill. Sure, there are others that are going faster than me. But I am not competing with them. I am competing with myself. I love pushing myself to see what I can do. I am up to 60 + minutes on the treadmill and have added the elliptical (I sure sweat on that).
I think I get respect from the others because they have seen that I am determined to lose this weight and they see the change. I am there 6 out of 7 days. For me walking outside just doesnt do it. I prefer the treadmill because I push myself on the treadmill.

Thank you ladies for all the kind words, and the encouragement. This is a hurdle I need to overcome. I belong to a gym, pay my dues....so why don't I go? I haven't figured that out yet.....okay, I will COMMIT to you and to me, I will get up early and either walk or go to the gym tomorrow and Sunday mornings. The weather is beautiful, and there is nothing on my calendar for either morning.
THANK YOU!!!
Hugs,
Tina - Calif

What are you doing for the knee? I'd suggest icing it at least three times a
day to reduce swelling.
Then I agree with Jennifer. Swim or water walk. Elliptical might be okay,
but you'll have to try and see. It's no major impact, but can still burn the
calories!
Good luck with it! Hope it heals up quickly!

Well I did not do well with my weigh in. I am up 2 and 1/4 pounds. I knew the chocolate cookies would not be good to have in the house. I hate pms.. I am going to have to find different snacks for the kids so I wont be tempted.
They love oreo cookies. I need to find a low calorie type of cookie that I can get them.
Hopefully next week I will be back to where I should be. I need to exercise more.
I am going through some very difficult things in my personal life and just have been lacking motivation.Hopefully I will get motivated soon again.

To the ladies who replied about meal ideas for me: Thanks so much! There is
truly nothing more valuable than advice based on people's dad to day
experiences with WW.
Thanks, again~ Destiny
