Lee,
Physically I am feeling good. Since there were no surgical cuts, I am just going through the inside of my stomach & esophagus healing. I've had major surgery twice in my life and the Drs told me that it takes your body a year to heal from surgery and it heals from the outside in.
Mentally, I still struggle with the compulsive overeater in my head. There are days when I count the hours until I can eat again. I eat out quite often, which probably means I eat more fat & salt then I should but I get a container at the beginning of each meal and put away at least 2/3 of my main dish. I also take the time to make healthier selections. It's a learning process. I'm truly grateful to be part of this online support group. I've read about various topics posted in prior months and years. The posts help me understand what my body is going through.

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

Lisa:

I'm very glad to hear you're getting input and support from your surgeon and his colleagues. I believe we all have to find our own 'way' after WLS, and professional advice is always a good thing. I want to say I think you're really brave to volunteer for an experimental procedure.

Did you tell your surgeon about the Pouch Test? Mine was not impressed. He just didn't get it. His response to my concern that my capacity had increased (my stomach had stretched) was to give me a classic upper GI x-ray with barium. ZZZZZZ Hello! Perhaps your Dr will 'get it' with the Pouch test.

Since then I meet with one of his interns during each follow-up visit. I've called and spoken to my surgeon a few times since I had surgery and he actually called me back. One of the reasons I did this clinical trial was because of the follow-up program.
> FYI, my weight loss plateau is over for now. I weighed myself this morning and I am at 219. During the past few weeks, I've been gaining & losing the same 2-4 lbs. I'm on day 3 of the 5 day pouch test.
> Since I lost weight, I think I've either been eating too much food or eating too many carbs. (I get full rather quickly and I eat 3-4 small meals per day plus 2 snacks. I was eating snacks too late at night and I stopped when I started the 5 day pouch test. The only other timem I lost weight this quickly was when I was on a liquid diet. That was the 1st 2 weeks after my surgery. I lost 1-2 lbs per day because I went from eating huge meals and snacks to a liquid diet.
