The guy who was pulling our group posts to his own web site tried to join us again today. He's using the same name at a different e-mail server. Some people are really dim.

His new addy is danaqua85@urdusms.info

Sorry fella.

Ray: As someone who has "failed" surgery - I've regained 90-100 lbs of the 150 I lost I would like to say this for you to consider.

I believe my biggest downfall was straying from what I was told to do in regards to eating, drinking, and acceptable foods. I was continually pushing the envelope. At first it was just a bite here and there of: a meatball sub, birthday cake, fried chicken, milkshakes, pop, etc.... How did this snowball? Now I can 2-3 dozen cookies without dumping, a whole pizza, all the fried and fatty foods I want, and I wash it all down with a Diet Pepsi. This is obviously not a good thing.

My biggest struggle right now is getting back on track and back to basics. My mindset of seeing what I could get away with has brought me nothing but grief. I know there are a lot of other contributing factors. I also know that pre-surgery I didn't want to hear anything "negative" that people had to say about it. I wanted it, and that was all there was to it.

I am 8-1/2 years post op, and I'm not trying to discourage you AT ALL! I believe the surgery is a good thing. I am just hoping to help you avoid a potential pitfall that has really done me in.

I certainly wish you the best. Keep asking your questions. It's really great that you are being so open minded and thoughtful about your future.

Julie

Julie thank you,

You touched on some good points. All and all the surgery it self is fantastic it does what it is suppose to do all of them, unfortunately when I did the surgery I was so excited about the process I just did"nt think about how I was going to maintain the weight loss specially for a working mother.

I thought it would be easy to maintain, boy was I wrong. Maintenance Maintenance Maintenance !

lets talk about maintenance what do we do to maintain a healthy attitude and mind and finally body this is a life long process it just does not happen over night!

God bless you
Josie

Denise,
My WLS was on 3/25/2009. I spent the two weeks prior to surgery eating anything and everything. I am part of a clinical trial for a new, non-invasive type of WLS using a TOGA device. I was only in the hospital overnight!
Good luck with your WLS and keep us posted.
