It may not be as bad as you think...the points are designed to help you lost weight even if you eat them all. Eating too little can be just as bad as too many.
As far as Nutritsystem, I personally hate almost all packaged frozen food. So I would probably lose tons of weight on Nutrisystem because I wouldn't be able to eat any of the food LOL:) I heard their food was bad too.
I love WW because you can eat anything.

Hi All! I'm a bit worried about tomorrow's weigh-in. This past week, I've eaten my full portion of points every day, and one day, I used up some of my extra 35 points for dinner out. So I am expecting a gain, and that depresses me. I usually leave some of my points not eaten, I get 25 points per day, and this "little old lady" is on lifetime, and she gets 18 points per day - she is much shorter than I am, and quite a bit older than me (I'm 56), but I thought I'd try to go 18 points for a day, and it was HARD! I don't know how she does it. But I always tried to go for only 20 points per day, hoping to hasten along my losing pounds. But this past week was nothing like that. I ate like I was starving. Didn't go over on points, but was right on them, except for the dinner out, and I didn't go crazy, just had some barbecue (no bun) and a small order of baked french fries. (I guess they were baked frozen fries.) So I don't think I used up all of
my 35 points on that.
But the bad thing that I did, was got caught up on thinking that maybe I should join up with Nutrisystem and have the food mailed to me. So I called in, and got it set up, but I don't use credit cards nor PayPal, I was going to write a check at the first of the month, so they were going to hold my order until they got my check. Thank goodness. My daughter and son-in-law came over and saw my notes on Nutrisystem, and said NO, MOM! Their food tastes like cardboard, and good luck on returning anything to them. They knew = because my son-in-law's mom had tried Nutrisystem but couldn't take the cardboard taste of the food, and tried to return it, and they gave her all kinds of hassles, and it took months to get her refund. So today, I called in and cancelled my order (it hadn't been prepared yet), and I am out of their system. SCHWOO!!!!!!!! I figured that WW was the way to go, because I had to learn how to eat and buy foods in this world, and maintain my goal weight o
n my own, not by pre-packed food, but out of food in my cabinets and refrigerator. That's the only way I can live to learn a new lifestyle.
Sorry to rant on, but I just had to get this OUT of me! Thanks for listening.

After a gain last week of 1.2 pounds, which I felt was mostly fluid, I
lost 7.2 pounds this week for a total of 22.8 pounds!
I met my first mini goal (5%) and sailed right past it.
Yes, I got the warning about not losing weight too fast, but I have
been sick and not feeling like eating, so it was easy to stay OP. I
didn't dip into my weekly points at all and some days was hard for me
to eat over 20 (my points were 37), but would eat some yogurt, etc. to
try and get points in and eat what I was supposed to. I am feeling
better now. I had a bad respiratory virus this past week, my husband
had it before me, and my son now.
I reset my points, but can't find where to reset my goal with the
online tools. Can anyone help me?

Annie,
Sorry, but you need to eat ALL your DAILY points EVERY day. That's why
the WW program is set up the way it is. You can leave your Weekly
Points uneaten and not eat your APs if you earn them, but you MUST eat
ALL your daily points. Otherwise you could be looking at a gain, but
not for the reason you think. I actually went over my points(Daily,
Weekly, and APs) by 15 this past week and I *STILL* lost 0.4 at this
morning's WI! Please don't cut back on your points to 18, there's NO
way your body can handle that long term. As you lose weight, you will
lose a point Daily for each 10 lbs you lose, and your body needs time
to adjust.

I'll be anxious to hear about your weigh-in Annie. I am sure you will
be surprised. One thing you have got to stop doing is beating yourself
up. I feel that WW gives us that room to cheat (with the extra 35
points a week) without feeling we are off the plan and feeling like
giving up because we can't stick to the plan. You have stayed on point
all week, that is something to cheer about!
I too am 56. However, because of my starting weight, I started with 38
points, and am down to 35 now. Believe me, I never thought I could
lose weight on that many points, but apparently what my husband has
been telling me all along was right-you have to eat to lose! Before WW
I was never hungry, and ate very little, but often the wrong thing.
Often I would only eat one meal a day. I think my metabolism had just
shut down. WW was very difficult for me at first, because I was
forcing myself to eat three meals a day, and that, for me, was
difficult.
Now I eat three meals a day with no problem, and have three snacks,
too. Sometimes, like my "bedtime snack" last night, is a plate of raw
veggies (something I have always loved), but I also eat fruit, WW ice
cream bars, etc. as snacks.
Let us know what the scales said this week.

1. The points you get when you start are the MINIMUM points you need to eat every single day! As you lose weight, your daily points decrease.
2. The 35 weekly points are there for you to use them, I usually use most of mine and when I follow the program, I still lose.
3. Try eating more filling foods instead of wasting your money on 100 calorie packs or other crap foods. My snacks are fruit, yogurt, string cheese or vegetables. I gained all my weight eating crap, I'm not going back to it!
Good luck with your weigh in and WW :)

Well, the scales were kind to me this morning - I had gained only 0.2 pounds. Whew! I thought for sure it would have me at gaining 3-4 pounds. So now I'm doubly careful about what I eat during the day, and will do better planning my menus around our largest meal of the day, which is dinner. I'm going to track that down, then write down what I can have for breakfast and for lunch, and if I can have a snack or not.
One note, WW ice cream sandwiches are good, and are only 2 points, but you can have a regular ice cream sandwich (less expensive) for 3 points each. So for me, I'm going for the regular stuff. Unless I only have 2 points left in the day, and then I may go and get the WW ice cream sandwiches. That is why I like to track ahead of time - I can plan on having an ice cream sandwich if I want one, I just have to be careful of I eat for dinner and the rest of the day.
And yeah, I've got to stop beating myself up all the time. Thanks for reminding me of that.

Hi Melissa,
I know you are right, but it seemed so easy and what a great idea! But it did me in. I now know to eat my full points, and right now, after breakfast/brunch and a snack, I have 18 points left for dinner and dessert, if I want any. I get 25 points every day. If I get hungry, I can have a 2 point WW bar, or a dill pickle or a salad with salsa as a dressing. My husband brought home some ice cream sandwiches, and I did the math on my points calculator and it comes to 3 points per sandwich, so that is do-able, for a before bed snack. My dinner tonight is only 6 points, so I need to get 12 more points in today, besides my main meal. Geez, I never thought I would have to think of what else to eat!!!!!!!!! Maybe I CAN get that Ben and Jerry's ice cream and eat only a few spoonfuls. LOL !!!!!!!!!!
The "little old lady" who is on Lifetime membership, who has only 18 points to eat each day. I don't know how she does it, but today, at our meetings, she fessed up that she is going up 2 pounds one week, and down 2 pounds the next. She is very frustrated, and has the idea to go to meetings like she has never been before, and to pay attention to the meetings, and to get all the booklets and essentially start over. She looks fantastic, very slender, and a great outlook on life. Although she is addicted, seriously addicted to ice cream. So much so, that she can't even have it in her house. She'll eat the whole container. She admits this publicly. I can learn from this lady's ideas - because she is committed to the program, has had success with it, and is so willing to share her thoughts.
So I will eat all my points every day, and start adding in my exercise, which will be walking. And hopefully, 78 pounds from now, I'll be able to jog or run some of these miles that I am walking on right now.
Uh oh, it has started to thunder and lightning - we're about to have a storm come through and the last time we did, it blew out our telephone lines. So I am going to say goodbye and shut down my computer and the TV.
Thanks for writing in and giving me your kind advice. It really really helps!
Hugs,
Annie

Annie -
Do you have a Target or Super Target nearby? Some Targets carry 100 point
ice cream sandwiches. They are the Target brand, so they are not expensive,
and they are the real thing - just a square instead of a rectangle. I can't
remember the points though! They also have little ice cream bars in the
Target brand that are 100 calories - they are like little Klondike bars.

Tanya,
I would ask your dr although I don't see why not. You also might want
to check into the Simply Filling Technique, in which you eat certain
foods to satisfaction(mostly low carb). I know my Aunt has lost weight
on WW and has diabetes, so it CAN be done.

2. What a week!!

Well, It has been a few VERY BUSY days since I made Lifetime and I have yet to write about it. My sister did--bless her heart. She surprised me with sending you all the Smilebox link. She's the best! It was a great night and so lovely to have my family there to celebrate with me too. I am so thankful for my renew health and strength. I am so thankful for Weight Watchers and my great leader, Tracy. And I am so grateful for all my friends at Happy WW Losers -- you all are definitely a big part of my success. Thank you!
So Thursday I made Lifetime. . . . and on Saturday I ran in another 5K -- this one was right here in my small hometown of Mt. Sterling, KY. When I learned earlier this spring that there would be a 5K right here in town, I was determined that by then I would be able to run the entire course and would get my best time. The first time I ever ran/jogged was at my first 5K -- I walked and jogged it and was thrilled to get it done in 35:53. I wanted to be able to get this local 5K done in 32:00 - 32:59 -- I just wanted to see 32.
It has been an extremely busy summer for me and I have let my busyness keep me from being consistent with running through much of the summer -- some weeks only getting one run in, etc. I went to at least on 5K a month and other than the cross-country 8K I did with my WW friend Brandi I had not run an entire course always having to walk some of it.
By August first I knew I had to get serious about being more consistent or I was going to miss my goal, so I got serious about getting out there and ran an average of 4 days a week. In about 4 runs I was feeling much stronger and able to finish what I thought was the actual 3.1 mile course I would be running on 8-15-09. Terrific! I kept it up and was confident I could meet my goal. --
Well the Friday before the race, I went out with my 13-year-old son, who had said he was going to run the race on Saturday and had been training with me that week, for a short 1.5 mile run. And at about 1.25 miles into it I felt this discomfort in my right hip/glute. Like I had pulled a muscle or something. I stopped running and walked back to the car. I sure didn't want to have trouble the next day!! I iced my hip and took ibuprofen and Tylenol all day Friday. Saturday morning I felt fine. . . Yay!
My 25yo ds and my 13 ds both came to run too. We had about 14 people from WW also -- The WW members and my sons all wore matching green T shirts one of our members had made up for us this year. Cool. Anyway . . . I feel good and get off to a good start -- And I am wearing my new Garmin Forerunner 305 which I bought to reward myself for making Lifetime and it tells me I running a good 10-min/mile pace for the first mile and feel great. All is well and I am on my way to reaching my goal of getting in close to 32 minutes. I keep my running buddy, Brandi, is sight the whole time. She always comes in ahead of me in the 31- 32 minute range (her best time is 29:??). Oh-- and it was clear by 1.5 miles that I had misjudged the course and had been training for a shorter course. But I didn't let that discourage me. I knew I could do it. I just used positive self-talk and kept moving. All was well. My Garmin let me know I was on track to meet my goal.
THEN -- right at the 3 mile mark -- IT HAPPENS !! I feel and I think I hear what I believe is best described as a rubber band being snapped in my right hip. I was so close to the end of the race and had been feeling terrific. I had not stepped wrong or off rhythm or anything. . . but something happened. I jogged a few more steps pressing in on my hip where I felt the pain and that helped a little. Then I slowed to a walk and finished climbing the little incline I was on. Now all this happened a few yards from where I had planned to begin my sprint to the finish line. I felt like whatever had popped had not really torn because while there was pain it wasn't debilitating -- I didn't need to scream or anything (except in frustration).
So after walking maybe just 15 steps I started to jog again and when I reached the place I had determined would be where I would sprint I did pick up speed and started to sprint (later I looked at my Garmin and it said my best pace was 7:53). It hurt. It hurt and I was a little afraid my leg would fold up under me. But I didn't want to quit. My sons were at the finish line waiting on me. Brandi was there too. They all knew I wanted to get in at 32 something or better. I told myself to just run and that the only thing that would stop me is if my leg just quit -- I tried not to visualize what falling would look/feel like.
I tried to read the numbers on the finish line clock and when I finally got close enough to read them it said 31:39 . . . My oldest son was yelling for me to hurry, "You can do, Mom". I was still running. The last number I saw was 31:56. Garrett says I crossed the line at 31:59!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!. He came to me at the end of the shoot and I pretty much fell into his arms and my hip/glute kind of gave way. I needed help to stand as I recovered from the sprint (cardiovascular wise). He walked me to the portajohn I needed badly.
I still don't know what my "official" time is but I do know that I reached my goal and that is soooo satisfying!!
I iced and rested my hip the rest of Saturday and took naproxen and ibuprofen. Today (Tuesday) it is better. The soreness is nearly gone and I am walking almost normally. I am really hoping that by the weekend my hip will be back to normal. I just don't want to go too long without getting to run after I had worked so hard to get very comfortable with 3.1 miles.
Part of the problem, I am sure, is that I have not been regularly stretching after running or before running. A local marathoner and cross-country coach was at the 5K and I told her I had hurt myself. She showed me a couple of good piriformis stretches and told me that for her team she has them run long enough to break a sweat and then they stop and do several stretches and then do their real running/training. And of course then stretch when they are finished. I am now going to make that my routine as well!!
If you read this book I just wrote, thanks. . . I hope it encourages you to keep on striving --and to STRETCH after a race.

I can't find the pencil you mention-also mentioned in the help

on my tracker. Am I user a different version?

Good afternoon,
Well I fell off the message bandwagon but at least not the WW wagon. I have managed to lose about 4 lbs in the last month, which is all right since I spent 2 weeks sick with some sort of throat infection.
I started a challenge with my father where we are attempting to workout daily for any length of time. This is a challenge since he has a very bad back and I had a patient twist my wrist a few weeks back and I a finally able to use it with out a lot of pain. So far so good though and only missed two days this week and I fully blame work ;) Worked a double shift and had trouble sleeping.
So my resolution is to catch up with my emails, participate more and GET THIS WEIGHT OFF!
Off to cook up some b/s chicken for dinner with fresh picked green beans.
Kristen
Thunder Bay, On, Canada
PS: Not that anyone really cares ;) But I bought my 1st brand new car every yesterday…soooo excited.

Kristen,
Congrats on the new car! It's fun, isn't it?
Way to go on getting 4 pounds off - it can be hard when life throws us
little curve balls!

Kristen,
Congrats on getting a new car, what kind did you get? I've *NEVER* had
a brand new car(not that I really care, but newer than 12 would be nice
LOL), so congrats! Good job on the 4 lbs and exercising every day.
Every little bit helps. I try to do something everyday as well, even
if it's just walking around the neighborhood. I just joined the YMCA
last week and have been there about 5 times, swimming, weight lifting,
and using the cardio machines. Even with going on a second vacation
last week I managed to lose 0.4 this week, so I guess it was a good
move :).
Have a good week
