Where do you get ff vanilla almond milk? Is it a certain brand? Does
it taste like milk?
Very curious...
Thanks!

It's Vanilla Almond Breeze, unsweetened. Only 40 calories per cup. I get it
at Walmart, believe it or not! I was getting it at Safeway (aka Ralph's or
Vons in other parts of the country) but a few months ago WM started carrying
it.
It doesn't taste like milk, but it is a slightly sweet, slightly rich taste.
It's VERY good on cereal, although I don't care for it in coffee. It's great
in baked goods, too. On cereal it has a richer taste than fat free milk, for
half the calories. I sprinkle PB2 over the cereal and it mixes with the
almond breeze SO nicely.

Tara,
How close are you to reaching your goal weight and becoming a lifetime member? If you're close and can find a way to stick it out, once you become lifetime, your meetings and etools are free as long as you stay within a certain weight limit.
Good luck to you in all you're going through.

Points values will vary so the best guide - since you are donig online - is to use your points tracker religiously - track everything you eat and that means weigh and measure EVERYTHING.
But I am a bit concerned about your question. I DO hope you don't currently hve a goal of 18 points per day - that's a pretty low number, and if you've "had weight issues" all your life, pretty hard to manage. If you are an online member, use the Points Calculator in the left-hand column to find the values of foods you eat. Since I am frequently without a computer, I have several nutrition books with calorie values and I have my points calculator and a slide calculator they used to offer.
You can look up food points using the Points Tracker or the Find & Explore links also in the left-hand column
Have you taken the points quiz online? On the toolbar online, you'll want to look at "Your Plan" and then "Select Your Daily Points Target". Also very helpful is the section "Staying on the Plan"
As you lose weight, you'll be satisfied with less and less but you may also get much more active and so gain activity points - or jsut get used to eating what you need rather than what you want to eat.
> AND AM I THE ONLY ONE CONFUSED BY THE POINT STYSTEM
Online members usually have problems getting the whole plan as well as meeting members. When we attend meetings, each week, they introduce a new topic and build on what you learn the previous week. A logical progression. Online, you get all the information but you may choose to read something that doesn't make sense until you have learned something else.
You may want to consider buying the Complete Food Companion under the Marketplace tab online - it details a lot of the values for foods most people have. Another suggestion that is useful to some is to take masknig tape or scotch tape and tape over containers of items you usually have in the house and write on it the points values for the items - so you'll get a cereal box and have the values on the side.
Or you can find a food list to print out by going to the Help section (link right next to the Log Out link in the upper right. Follow this path:
Help
General Website Questions
Weight Watchers Online & Etools
Do you have a printable list
Otherwise, a specific question about the plan might be easier, although we are limited in our ability to help since the plan is copyrighted or trademarked or whatever - it's all there online, just maybe a bit confusing.
Read a section a day under "your plan" - write down things just like you're taking notes in class, even right down questions you have or things that don't make sense. Then ask either here or on the WW boards.

Hi Melissa -
My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed Steppin' Out. There were street musicians, plus on separate blocks, they had stages set up, and rock bands were playing. Our town is full of 50+ agers (professors, etc) who still dress hippie style. (like me). I never saw so many tie-dyed rainbow colored t-shirts, dresses and skirts in one place before, and almost everyone had their requisite Birkenstocks on. I wore tennis shoes. I bought one thing - don't laugh - I bought a bib apron that used retro fabric, and it was just too adorable not to have. I tried it on, and it covered me well, so I bought it. My daughter was surprised by my enthusiasm over it. But I've needed an apron in the kitchen for a long time. I tend to stand too close and get stuff splashed on me. Plus I am just a messy cook.
How are you doing?
Hugs,
Annie

Hi Melissa,
Thank you for the congrats on the smaller top and haircut. The haircut feels so freeing. Our moms sure do strange things to us about our hair. My mom had a hissy fit to end all hissy fits when one afternoon, just before dinner, I decided to cut bangs for myself. I combed my hair down from where I wanted them to start, and got the scissors and cut them, threw the hair away, and was thrilled with the results. I looked SO much better with bangs, because I have a wide and high forehead. My mother was enraged! Livid! and there was nothing she could do about it. And now at 56, I still have bangs, although I am sweeping them to the side from a side part, I still have them. She used to say, sarcastically, "are you going to keep bangs even when you get old and gray?" And I said "probably". And THAT made her mad. I kept telling her it was MY hair, not hers, that got cut. She didn't like that. But she was mad about that whole thing for years. She was like that -
anything you did, she had something to say about it. We are not in communication any more. Haven't spoken to each other in at least 15 years. There is more to the story, but you don't want to hear it. Suffice it to say, I had a very bad childhood, with horrors done to me and add in my psychotic mother, and I was ready to say goodbye. I tried for awhile to get back in contact with them, and it was more of the same, so I finally decided I needed them to be out of my life. They were toxic for me. My therapist and psychiatrist both stood with me on this. I was able to find my real father about 6 years ago, and I live in Virginia, and he lives in California, and I got to fly out to meet him, and he was simply wonderful, and had remarried, and his wife was wonderful, and now I call them my parents. We talk by IM almost every day.
To donate hair to the Cancer Society, it has to be at least 11" long and not be colored (no hair dye). I've donated twice. My hair grows fast. For this new style, my stylist says I should get it cut every 4-5 weeks. I wonder how much she charges for the trim? Hmmm. gotta think about that. I've got to be sure I have enough allowance left for this - or ask my hubbie for some more money.
They are having a street festival, called "Steppin' Out" this weekend in our downtown around 2 city blocks. No cars are allowed in there, because amateur artists only are allowed to set up booths. No professionals are allowed to set up booths. I think that is pretty cool. I think I am going with my daughter and son-in-law, for a little bit. The vendors sell jewelry, homemade purses and baby clothes, t-shirts, tie-dye items, ceramics, wood carvings, candles, homemade breads, and more. There is something for everyone. And it is always crowded with people. We live in a small town with a huge university, that attracts a lot of foreign students, so we have lots of foreign foods for sale, and they are fun to try. (before WW!). Now I just go with a bottle of water to carry along. There is always one stand that is squeezing fresh oranges and lemons for orange juice or lemonade. You have to walk carefully by it, to avoid any splatter on yourself. They are very
enthusiastic about bringing down the smasher on the manual juicer they use.
Well, I hope you have a nice day. It is bright here, but totally clouded over. So we'll probably get rain by 5:00 or so. Meaning another day we cannot mow the yard. Hopefully it won't rain tomorrow and our son-in-law will come over to mow it. My husband and I are both disabled and cannot run the mower by ourselves, so we have to get someone else to do it for us. We pay for it to be mowed.
What do you mean when you say you are following "Simply Filling" at the moment?
Have a good time off!
Annie

Annie,
Congrats on the much smaller top and the short haircut! My DH swears I
look better in short hair(currently it's about 1" below my shoulders),
but I have always hated short hair(my mom MADE me keep it short till I
was 18!). It's sure cooler in the summer, so I may relent for the rest
of the summer, but it takes forever to grow in and I don't want the
opposite reaction in the winter! I think it's great that you donate it
to the Cancer Societ, my hair isn't long enough to do that(I think it
has to be 12"??) THat's a great gesture.
Btw, your daily points WILL go down as you enter new decades of weight,
so don't be surprised when you get less. I think I was at 27 when I
first joined WW and I'm now at 22, although I'm mostly following Simply
Filling at the moment(I switched for vacation and am switching again
for next week at my mom's).
Have a great weekend and a great week, I will be MIA for all week from
tonight until the 16th.
Melissa

Hi Robin... rule of thumb is that mostly 1 point is 50 calories...
but that can vary depending on the fat content and the fiber
content.. the less fat, and the more fiber, usually the lower the
points for that food.... it's really an easy system once you are
familiar with it and WW's electronic calculator makes it even
easier... then when I have the count I usually mark it on the
individual bags, or the box, or/and put it in my notebook....
Good luck.... look, around and see if you know anyone on the
program that can explain the counts to you.. or maybe you could hit
just one meeting when registration is free and go thru the
orientation and have it explained to you in person, always better I
think... TTYL, Mary Lou
