1. Not going to meet my August goal :(
Posted by: "Jen" jenstk06@yahoo.com jenstk06
Date: Mon Aug 24, 2009 4:13 am ((PDT))
My exercise goal for August was to have at least 500 minutes, I have 232 right now. About a week ago, my SIL and I went for a long walk, I was wearing the wrong socks with my shoes and wound up with a big blister on each foot. My right foot is all better, but the left is messed up. When we got home, the top layer of skin was ripped off and I decided to put a blister healing band-aid on it...don't ever do that with an open blister!!! It got really infected and I could barely walk on my left foot. It is doing better today, but when I walk on it for a long time, it starts to break open again :( I tried working out this morning, but a few minutes in, I had to stop. Hopefully I'll be working out again soon!!!!

Welcome back, Kerri! This is my fifth attempt at WW. I'm on week 6th and have lost 12 pounds so far, and I am happy with that. I figured to lose 2 pounds per week, but I am losing 4 pounds 1 week, then the next week I am losing .6 pounds, then the next week, I lose 3 pounds, and then the next week, I lose .8 pounds. So I don't know what is up with that, but as long as it comes off, I am happy.
I keep coming back to WW because I know this is the only system that truly works. You eat your own food, you learn portion control, and you learn a new lifestyle. And boy, do I need that. I've met goal twice, and then let up on myself, and gained it all back plus some. Twelve pounds ago, I was the heaviest I've ever been, and I hated the sight of myself. Now my jeans are a bit looser on me, and of course, the one place where I wouldn't mind NOT losing anything, my boobs are losing weight. Dammit!!! <VBG> I want to call myself the Incredible Shrinking Woman, and just keep on course to continue to lose, even if it is .4 every week. I track what I eat religiously, and do not slide. (well, I had one slide the other day without even noticing it until I got home and it was the next day that I recalled it, and had to add it to my tracking booklet) - I went to my local yarn shop to sit and knit with the women there, and there is a Starbucks down about 2 stores away, and I got a large iced white mocha, and it was delicious. I didn't even THINK about WW or the calories or anything. Just drank it down like it was any other day. Then the next day, I was changing the page in my tracker, and was noticing that I had not had all my points the previous day, and something was digging in my brain about that, and all of a sudden I went WHOOPS!!!!!!!!! I forgot and drank that iced white mocha and that had to be at least 10 points, so I put that down in my tracker with a meanie face next to it. Won't make that mistake again. Geesh! Everyone sitting there at the yarn shop and knitting had something from Starbucks, and I wanted to join in, and so went and got my favorite. I'm thrilled that I didn't go overboard and get a slice of their delicious lemon cake too. Lucky me.
You mention that you are a mom of 5 and grandma of 7. Well, I'm the mom of 1 and my one daughter is pregnant with our first grandchild, due on Thanksgiving Day! I am knitting like crazy for outfits for the wee one, remembering how fast they grow, so not putting in too much effort into these early outfits, for they will be out of them soon enough. I've knit two sweaters, several hats, mitts, and tons of baby booties. I'm also trying to get a soft blanket knitted to wrap the wee one in. We know it is a boy she is having - I wish that technology had been around when I was pregnant. I'm secretly making a knitted overalls and sweater outfit in newborn size for the baby - I won't let my daughter see it. These knitted things will go into a moth-proof box when he is done wearing them, so that they can be saved for his own children, if that is possible. I'm truly enjoying the excitement of building him a wardrobe of fine knitted items. I'm knitting just a few in newborn size, more in 3-6 month size, and some in 6-9 month size. I've made him 2 sweaters, several hats, baby booties, and mitts, and am finishing up another sweater. This one is in newborn size.
I applaud you for coming back to WW. I know it was a hard decision for me, but this time it has been easier than ever before. Maybe I'm just knowing that my time for losing weight and keeping it off is running out. I don't care about being thin when I'm 85, I'd like to still be young enough to enjoy being slim. I saved my "skinny" clothes, and look forward to wearing them again. I'm SO aware of portion size now, that I think I can handle myself at a restaurant, or any outing we may attend. My sister-in-law had a gastric bypass done, and she was about 300 pounds, and I hadn't seen her for a year or so, and she and my brother-in-law came to Emily's wedding (my daughter), and she was a whisper of the person who she used to be, I barely recognized her. She was as thin as a stick. She lost way too much weight, but she was pleased with herself. I knew how she felt, but my husband and her's ( my husband's brother) both said she was WAY too thin, and needed to put on at least 40 pounds. And I kinda had to agree. She was a walking twig. She had the bypass done, and then joined WW to help her get the weight off. Of course, I had to congratulate her success, but felt bad that she had gotten that thin.
You keep on track, and keep tracking what you eat, and if you mess up on one meal, just go ahead and track it, and do better at the next meal - don't give up for the entire day and stuff yourself. I have 78 more pounds to go (I'd like to lose 88 more pounds, but I don't think I could keep it off easily enough, and probably my husband will have a fit if I lose that much weight. I'm 56 years old, and am 5'6". Right now, I weigh 216.8 pounds. I have Parkinson's Disease, and am on medication for it, which helps a lot.
Anytime you want to chat, I'd love to hear from you. I think we are in the same boat. And I could use the support also. I hope I haven't bored you to death.
Best wishes,
Annie

Aw, that is so sweet making the knitted things. I can't knit but love
to crochet. Keeping busy with your hands really keeps down the urge to
snack, too. I need to start a new afghan or something. I find even
when I read at night I want to snack.

Hi Everyone!
I have the WW Digital Scale and I have misplaced the manual. So if anyone
out there who has one, could help me...? I am trying to manually input a
food that's not already in the scale and I can't remember how to do that. I
mean I know how to get the points values for it but I don't remember how to
store it so I don't have to input everything again next time.
Thanks!

Ran 12.67 miles with my running classes! I coach people to their first 5k,
10k, half marathon, or marathon. So ran 2.6 with the 5k class (almost to 5k)
and then 10 with my marathon/10k/half class! Good times!

I've tried sending UPC codes for IncrEdible Rewards and my envelope keeps
coming back to my address. I took it to the Post Office and the woman there
didn't know why, it doesn't say anything on the envelope. The only thing
she could figure out was that it was because there was cardboard in it and
they considered it an irregular letter so we added 20 cents and sent it off
again. Lo and Behold - it came back.
Anyone else with this problem?

Great jog on the jogging jen! I'm doing 8 minute intervals, 5 min warm
up, 8 min jog, 8 minute walk, etc for 60 mins total I plan to do that
tonight while my DD is at volleyball practice. I also did some
volleyball with her and counted 2 APs for it.

Ran 2 miles at the track. did a little bit of speedwork. What a difference 10 degrees makes...it was actually pleasant!

Then that explains why I almost passed out walking around the Bristol Nascar race this last week. I have never walked on such steep ground.
It was very easy to work up a sweat even at midnight in the cool air (unusually cool for TN)...that part was wonderful, still had humidity though.
I was following this one lady up the hill..she was doing pretty good with me huffing and puffing behind her. Then I noticed that she was holding something...she was actually carrying a sleeping 2/3 year old! I felt that I had NOTHING to whine about...
After a few days of that, I noticed that the stairs seemed much easier at work today...could I actually have built up some tolerance in a short time?
Guess I should continue by walking on a high incline on the treadmill--hate to lose some stamina that I may have gained.

Your body adapts EVERY time you push it, so yes! You could have! So increase
that incline and keep building it on your fitness.
Remember with fitness, if you don't challenge yourself (like in everything)
you get stagnant. Pushing yourself, even a little, increases your fitness
level!
