1a. Chocolate Milk

I take 3 medications at night: one for high cholesterol, one for high blood
pressure, and an anti depressant. I always get a stomach ache unless I take
them with milk. I don't like white milk (except in cereal) but I love
chocolate. But depending what brand I get (even if I get FF), it comes out
to 3 or 4 points. But yesterday I was out of milk so went to get some and
found Nestle Quick in 4 packs of 100 calorie bottles. So I got that and then
when I got it home so I could figure the points it was only 2 points for one
bottle! I am very happy! It will cost a little more than buying the regular
but it's worth it to me cuz now I can spend less points on my milk. Someone
might suggest that I just buy regular milk and SF syrup but I've tried that
and I can't make it taste right. I've also tried powder but didn't like it.

Me, three! Cannot stand plain milk, so this will be good for me too. I do like the chocolate soy milk but it is more points! 3 points for a cup!

Faye,
It's always great to find a workable solution to those things we need! I
love chocolate milk too, but I'm okay with the Nestle Quik powder. LOL.

As far as olive oil, you can mix it with vinegar to make a dressing for your salad. But I prefer to get it in by adding it to my OR Smart Pop popcorn when I eat it as a snack. Add a little salt and yum!
Oil can also be canola and then there are a few others that I can not think of!

One more silly question... On the WW boards on their website a lot of people
have a hard time with the oil and someone posted that if you eat TV dinners
(I do) you can put it on the TV dinner. Would you put it on before or after
you cook it, or does it matter? I usually like to get mine in by sprinkling
rosemary, thyme, or oregano in olive oil and dipping Nature's Own Lite bread
or WW bread in it (1 point for two slices!) but I need a lot of oil to do it
and it comes out 4 points when I do that so I was thinking of trying the TV
dinner suggestion. Or I guess I could add some to a salad? I forgot what all
oils count too. I know olive oil but that's all I know. lol

Kelley,
Thank you for saying this.
As a (newish) receptionist it is so hard to know what to say to members when they gain. We get training, but it is still hard. No one wants to hear if they have gained, but we are there to help, not criticize. If a member is having trouble with the program, we need to know so we can assist.
Michele
You know, I have heard comments from others on the group (mainly a couple of
months ago before I took a little break) about having less-than-nice
receptionists and even some leaders. This makes me all the more thankful
that I have never encountered anything like that. I LOVED my leader in West
Des Moines, Iowa. She was the BEST. The leaders here in Greensboro, NC are
good too - and the receptionists are top notch. They had a trainee a while
back who was quite clueless and seemed to be taking a LONG time to learn her
job (bless her heart LOL) but she was extremely nice.
So I just wanted to take the time to send kudos out to all those
leaders/receptionists I've had over the years in Lafayette, Indiana;
Champaign, Illinois; West Des Moines, Iowa; and now Greensboro, North
Carolina! Way to go ladies!! LOL
Kelley
I briefly stopped going to WW meetings because of the
frustrated comments from the receptionists regarding my gains every
week.

Well, I'm 59 and I thought that I might not be able to do it because I'm too old, but all it takes is committment and determination. I'm doing it! I've lost 23 pounds and this is only my 13th week!

I don't know Kerri but given a choice I would much rather be too skinny than too fat, or what they call too skinny! I've been both ways and I know what I prefer

well said Tory! My question is this: Do any of you get told you are too skinny? My MIL tells me that all the time (I am 5'7,133 pounds after keeping 105 off for over 4 years). Why do people think it is okay to say that but not tell someone they are too fat?

I don't think it's morbid at all, Deb. I think it's realistic. The reason it
is called "morbid obesity" is because it is a health condition that is tied
to an earlier death, and a poor quality of life.
One time a lady I work with (who does seem to OFTEN engage mouth before
engaging brain) said to me, "Well I heard that working out only gets you
like 10 extra years! I'd rather sit on my butt and forget about it. I mean
who wants ten extra years at the end of their life? I'm sure!"
Yes, it was a direct slam at me.
But the deal is, that I think we often don't think about...the quality of
our lives is HIGHLY dependent on how we live our lives leading up to our
golden years.
So let's say that was true...that all this working out we're doing is "only"
buying us ten years of additional life on this earth. (Which I would say
isn't really "only" but for the sake of argument.)
What about the years leading UP to those ten years? When I was 38 I lost
this weight, and I was ALREADY having chronic heartburn, back pain, foot
pain, shortness of breath. So add ten years to that...48, and if my life had
continued in its pattern another 30 pounds. I'd have been about 265, and how
in the world would I have been feeling? What about 20 more years? At 58 I
would feel like what? Would I WANT ten more years when I hit 68?
But instead I started exercising at 38. Immediately I saw a difference in
the heartburn through the healthier diet. My back pain is still here, but
right now that is the ONLY chronic thing I deal with (at 44). My feet didn't
hurt at the end of the day any more after about 6 months. I could RUN up
stairs...much less walk, within a year.
Six years later I can run ultra marathons (31.1 miles...and I'm planning on
a 50 miler), finish half ironman competitions (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike,
13.1 mile run), kayak all afternoon in the slough, bend over and touch my
toes, say "Sure" to anything someone throws at me. I wake up with a stiff
back in the morning, but it works itself out. I no longer have heartburn, my
allergies have gotten better, I am RARELY sick beyond pancreatitis
(unrelated to my weight, but to a surgery I had in 2003), I can LITERALLY
run circles around my high school students. I currently teach all day, then
go home at night and hold running classes, work out with clients, and get
home and spend time with my honey.
Do I want to add ten years to THAT life? You betcha!
It's not only about length of life, but it's also about QUALITY of life.
Getting to a reasonable weight, and getting physically fit is the BEST thing
you can do for yourself and for those who love you.

A couple of months ago I tried to buy the next size down in jeans. I have been a size 12 for years and I tried to get into a 10. They fit but gave me a muffin top. I remember how upset I was and I posted something on these boards about it. Well I now have no clothes that fit. Literally none. They are all too big. I went to target yesterday and threw some size 8 shorts and crop pants in the cart. I thought what the hell I will try it. THEY FIT. I cant believe I am in a size 8. The size 10 jeans fit but they were midrise and stretchy so a little big. Im so proud of myself. I need .4 to make goal so I am keeping my fingers crossed I will make that at my weigh in on Wednesday!!!

Isn't it wonderful to wear clothes that fit and it's even better when you reach a new size. I was wearing size 12 last year. They were tight now the are loose and i'm working on i'm working on a size 10 but the main thing is that regulr fitting clothes feel good. I went to a reunion over Memorial Day and when I went up to my cousin and her susban they blushed and I guess I gave them an odd look. She truned red and said that they were talking about me and I said I hope it wasn't bad and her husband said "No, we were saying they you lost weight and how good you look" WOW! that was enough to pass up dessert! My total weight loss is 11 lbs from last year but it was enough for people to see. So when we think it's only 11 lbs that it does show to others....

I need .4 to make goal so I am keeping my fingers crossed I will make that at my weigh in on Wednesday!!!

Great job Jennifer!!!!!!!!!
I am still on the journey have lost 20 lbs and have another 20 to go to get to goal but I know the feeling when you have to start pulling up your pants because they don't fit any more. Congratulations I am sure you will reach your goal next weigh-in. God Bless Denise

I remember how upset I was and I posted something on these boards about it. Well I now have no clothes that fit. Literally none. They are all too big. 6. Weigh in for a local fund raiser

In our area, Hospice Quinte had a fundraiser called Dump the Plump. $20 to join and at the end, 6 mths we have a final weigh in to see how wins a portion of the entry fee.
On my first weigh in, I was 310.2 lbs. Today I weighed in at 257.4.
Tomorrow we find out who gets the money. I didnt want to say who wins, because even if I dont get cash, I still won.

I finished almost 11 minutes slower than my first half, as I was super tired from lack of sleep, didn't have but 2 packets of sports beans and water for breakfast this morning, and unlike the previous half I ran, this one had some hills. But it's all good, because at least I was able to complete it! :)
